PR Card Mailing and Re-entering

Hi,

We plan to do our first landing early next year in Quebec. AFter staying for 2 weeks in Montreal, we plan to return to our home country. I have heard that PR card can only be sent to a Canadian Address and its required during re-entry. As we have to rely on a relative's address, assuming the worst case scenario that PR card is not recieved at that address, is there anyway to re-eneter Canada without the PR card ?

Yes - PR cards can only be sent to a Canadian address.

Assuming you hold non-visa exempt passports, you would need a travel document to retur if you don't have your PR cards.

The major problem with PR card not being sent to the relative's address is photo not meeting the specs as is usual for little kids.
Sometimes at the immigration, depending on the Officer, and what you might say, they do sense that you are not in here for now
to establish long term residence, in that case they hold off on the processing of the PR until you inform them of a residence.
If you make sure to not let them suspect that you are in for a short landing, then usually start processing and eventually do send the cards to the address you tell them at the POE.
CIC uses regular mail, so sometimes it takes for ever. It is good to keep track by calling CIC call center with a Canadian number (using VOIP like majic jack and stuff...)
It is not hard to get a travel document as well if you don't receive the cards before you decide to return for good...

You can also check with Canada Post and have your PR cards and other correspondences forward to your home country.
