Hi there, can anyone help me with this?
I have sponsored my partner and we have gained the visa but we have to land in canda before December so we are gonna go for one week. Do we have to apply for a PR CARD? or is it automatically sent to the address that we give the immigration offers? I have read so many posts, I am totally confused.

Also, when we return to Canada do we need a travel document? Any help is greatly appreciated :)

You have to provide a canadian address for your PR Card to be mailed. CIC dont mail out PR cards out of canada address. Yes you can leave canada right after landing, but then you have to arrange travel documents from embassy in your country of origin. I don't know what is the process for it.

If you have a safe address to get your PR card mailed to, you can give that address and the person who is there to receive it, relative/friend, can mail it to you where you are or fed-ex it. If you do not have a safe address you can tell immigration to hold off on your PR card until you do.

When you want to return to Canada, if you have no PR card, you can enter on your landing papers if you are visa exempt. If you are not visa exempt, you will need a PR travel document you can get at the Canadian embassy where you are. Once you are in Canada, you can call immigration and update your address. However, if it has been more than 6 months since you landed, you have lost your chance of your first time free PR card and will have to fill out an application for one and pay a $100 fee.
