Thanks audrey888. I applied with spouse and 3 dependent children.

I submitted e-APR on 26th Jan 2016 and AOR same day. Medicals passed and Schedule 4/4A submitted. My questions is do they ask for any additional documents, banks statements or any other records before PPR?

Yes, they can ask for any documentation or proof again till your application is processed and closed.

Congratulations bahadur. All the best.

Hi guys. I have a couple of questions:

1. What exactly are there in these GCMS notes? Does it say something along the lines of "Documents were checked for completion on such and such date" and "background check was started on such and such date"?? What exactly do we gain in ordering these GCMS notes when anyway we have to wait until PPR?

2. For those waiting for PPR after application submission, do you know at what point the file gets transferred to the local VO? I live in South Africa so I suppose my local VO will be Pretoria. Should I contact them for status or not? It has been 4 months exactly since my AOR date.

Yes, that's exactly what you'll find. You can check examples in the GCMS notes thread.
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/understanding-gcms-notes-t366708.405.html

There was one member who spotted in their GCMS notes that the officer was not satisfied with the work reference letter, for example, so he sent a new one.
IMO, it's more advantageous to get it if your application has surpassed the 6 months processing time. I've been waiting for 4 months, so I see no point in getting my GCMS notes myself. Your call if you want to see what's happening.

If you are lucky, you'll get switches in your background check in your MyCIC account: either "not started" to "not needed at this time" or "in progress" to "not needed at this time", and people who ordered GCMS notes noticed that the dates corresponded to file transfers.
Some people have also reported calling the CIC call centre and the only information the agents can share is the current visa office.
