Hi,

My spouse's PR application was sent to Singapore out of my suprise. She has been living in Kuwait for almost two years, but she is national of Bangladesh. I expected and wanted them to send it to Abu Dhabi.

Since CIC has made some changes we can longer choose/request the visa office we would like to have process our applications. It is now CIC's decision as to where and for what ever reason(s) they send to a specific Visa office.

If her nationality is Bangladeshi you could expect them to send it there and not to Abu Dhabi, but sending it to Singapore is confusing. As Christoph100 said CIC ultimately decides where to send them.

Thanks for the reply.

What I am worried about is, I sent those miscellaneous forms based on the requirements of Abu Dhabi office and not Singapore. Not to mention the difficulty of not having access to VFS anymore now, since the VFS in Kuwait is connected to Abu Dhabi only.

Its still puzzling why they sent it to Singapore. Her passport in Bangladeshi correct? I am not sure if Bangladeshi applications are getting passed through Singapore.

I am curious why you didnt use the country specific forums for Bangladesh if her citizenship was such

Looks like it is getting processed in Singapore

The visa office is not based on the current country of residency so Abu Dhabi would not have been the VO

Yes she is a BD citizen. Frankly speaking, I beleived the information on CIC websites and my common sense would suffice. I am not worried about the timeline, although i should be since singapore take way longer on average. But I am curious as to why they choose Singapore.

My spouse did upfront medical and we paid the RPRF too, to speed things up. Ironically, she was issued a TRV from Abu Dhabi yesterday ::)

Looks like applications are getting processing through Singapore.. If she got the TRV she can come and stay here till the visa expiry :)

Yeah that's a good thing.

Can you give me your suggestion on something else as well please? In her application, we gave two police certificate, one from BD and one from Kuwait. The one from was valid for 3 months only and thus has expired already/by the time Singapore starts. Would it be wise or unwise to send a new PCC before they ask to avoid delays?

draxz1289 and Christoph100, both of your opinions would be appreciated.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/information/offices/missions/singapore.asp Singapore does PR Applications for Bangladesh (as well as TRV's).

It is possible that if his/her status in Kuwait is expiring that she may have been sent to Singapore because of that. I believe the requirement is you have to have a valid status for a year after you submit (as well as residing there for over 1 year to establish residence). This is at least what I have seen.

This could well be the reason. Her work visa expires this September. I already shot an email to cic trying to know why they choose Singapore. Bad call

The PCC from Kuwait was it not originally sent to Mississauga in the original package ?

If it was sent there should be no need to send them again as it was 3mths from date of issue to be received by CIC in Mississauga. That has now changed to allow PCC's to be valid for 6mths from date of issue giving applicants more time to prepare.

They chose Singapore because it is the VO for her nationality. End of, no other reason.

CIC usually chooses the VO of nationality over the VO of residence, as most applicants have stronger ties to and more history in their own country than they do to their country of residence.

I think it has more to do with the fact that her status is expiring in September. My wife received Ottawa instead of Manila because she is a resident of Canada currently, but her status is valid for 1 year (from March), which is why they chose Canada. I am sure if her status expired in the summer they probably would have sent it to Manila.
