Hello,

I submitted my PR and OWP application on October 2, 2010 and now I saw the processing time is 10-11 month in step 1 and 15 month for the step 2. What does this mean? Does it take 26 month until I get my PR and open work permit?
My previous employer layed me off 1 week ago and I already noticed, that agencies doesn't want to place nannies with my status, either nanies from overseas or nannies with an open work permit.

Now I'm totaly schocked, as I also noticed, that I would get EI just for maximum 4 month. How can I survive until a decicion is made on my application?
I also was told from CIC that my application would be declined immediatly when I would leave Canada to wait for the decision in my own country.
How can this be, that an employer lays you off right after you applied for your PR and OWP and now you don't know what to live from until you get your papers?
Who is in a similar situation and can give me some advice.
Thank you

It means you will get your PR after 26months, but you will get your OWP after 11months if you got the first stage approval.

You can go find some other employer and get a new LMO and new WP under this program, then working for them while u r waitting for your open work permit. It's the only job u can take for the moment.

I also was told from CIC that my application would be declined immediatly when I would leave Canada to wait for the decision in my own country.

There are many live-in jobs in need here, if u look at the newspaper, job banks or even go to the agents, I am sure you can get another job. Don't be too worried, at least your employer let you finished your two years and you are now waiting for your new status.

I hope this helps. God bless us all.
