Sorry for answering late. I have been crazily busy in the last cpl of days and no one else tried to help you@Mr_nobody ,@aasaf – the current application fee is 410 CAD for two people.
You maybe right and I might answer to some questions wrong that put me in different route.
Little background, I am on close work permit tight to my employer with LMIA.
I am PNP nominated and in express entry, my PNP nomination doesn’t have employment restriction.
Now there is question on work permit extension application as:
Which situation best describes your work situation?
The choices are:
I am working under an international agreement
I am eligible for a work permit through an active pilot project
I am provincial nominee certificate holder
I am entrepreneur/ self employed
I am spouse or common law partner of a foreign student
I am religious worker
I am academic
I am intra-company transferee
NONE OF THE ABOVE
I answered this at first to “I am provincial nominee certificate holder”, which demands a support letter from BC PNP, and now I see maybe this is wrong answer .
If I answer as NONE OF THE ABOVE, then it asks me if I have LMIA ,if I say NO it said I can’t proceed further, if I say yes it lets me go forward and then it ask for it as supporting document, now question is , I do have expired LMIA that used to obtain my current work permit, can I submit that or this guys need a fresh one, if yes I don’t have a fresh one.
If they need a fresh LMIA, only way remains is to wait for PNP to give me a support letter then file for open work permit.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks mate. Yeah, I was thinking that upon uploading this document through webform, the agent has to send it to the responsible office/officer, that way if there is any update on my file (e.g. security clearance), the officer might update my file accordingly before the actual due date which is May 1st. This is just a guess and it might work out.Thank you so much for sharing this with me.
Even though I agree with him, I think it is not necessary for you as you already passed eligibility. Only security left and that has nothing to do with the job verification. All in all, I agree it is safer to let them know. It doesn't hurt. As a matter of fact, it might even bring attention to the officer and they may update your file if there is anything else waiting (like if they received the results from CBSA). Might even have a good influence in the best case scenario)
Good luck
Not Saskatoon, but I have been living in Regina for about 7 years.By the way, are you living in Saskatoon? Did you just move there or have you been there for long time?
Thanks for the response. Yeah I don't have a lot of info either.Edited:
@ms-nobody @Mr_nobody
I'm terribly sorry for late reply. I was so busy with some stupid stuff which needed to be addressed. This is why I didn't notice your question.
@ms-nobody I didn't have provincial nominee certificate. So, I'm not the best person to answer your question. But from what I read from other forums, I think you answered the question right, I.e., you should go for "I am provincial nominee certificate holder". There should be some other forums that could address this question. We better search the forums on this website.
Since @Mr_nobody mentioned spouse's work permit, I assume that you're married. Yes, the cost for two applicants is 510$.
I'm not sure if your new work permit would be closed, as "open" is explicitly used in the title of a BOWP. @Mr_nobody, sorry I didn't get why he may get a closed permit? @ms-nobody if you need a closed permit, I think you shouldn't apply for BOWP. BTW, I read somewhere that some companies don't allow their employees to work with a BOWP (just read from a thread). So, I think you should talk to your HR about this before applying for it. You may want to extend your current closed permit instead of applying for BOWP.
As @Mr_nobody mentioned, we had a short discussion about BOWP. It could be useful to take a look at previous posts.
You still have enough time to apply for BOWP even if getting that stupid letter takes that long. I think you should be super cautious, as if you get refused you wont have too much time to reapply.
Good luck
Good luck. Hope it makes the file moves fasterThanks mate. Thanks for your response and happy new year, no matter how i answer these things I get only charged one time for open work permit.Sorry for answering late. I have been crazily busy in the last cpl of days and no one else tried to help you
As i told you it seems there is something wrong with your application. As far as I know, BOWP is n open work permit, meaning tha tother than paying 155$ for the processing fee, you have to pay 100$ for open work permit fees. So, in total it should be around 255$.
I don't know about the spouse, but I think they should give open work permit to the spouse as well, which means the total 510$ for two people.
Am I right @aasaf? I think @aasaf did and he may have more info than me.
But, in your case, it seems for one person, they only consider one open work permit and one close work permit.
Anyways, give me some time, I will go and check the questionnaire one more time and will let you know about the result.
I think @aasaf once shared the answer of his questions here, you can check those as well.
If not, let me check and tell you. for now, have to go back to work.
Good luck

Indeed, it was @Mr_nobody who first noticed there was something wrong with your application. Good job, @Mr_nobody@Mr_nobody @aasaf
So I deleted the whole profile and did another application from scratch and now reaching to magic number of 510 CAD for two open work permits, thanks a lot for spotting my mistakes, It seems I did not follow the open work permit route and was going under normal work permit branch.
The documents that I uploaded were as follow:Here is my document check list:
Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker (IMM5710)
Passport
Use of a Family Member Representative for Online Applications (IMM5713)
Marriage License/Certificate (required)
Digital photo (required)
Proof of upfront medical exam (required)
Optional document:
Schedule 1 - Application for a Temporary Resident Visa Made Outside Canada (IMM 5257)
Client information
It is mentioned that I need to submit my AOR letter along with PNP certification in letter of explanations. They did not ask for job offer however I intend to submit it as part of LOE.
Yes, it is totally OK. You need a visa only if you wanna leave Canada and return. It is OK if you don't have a visa while staying in Canada. My temporary visa also expires at 1 July, however it is mentioned to submit a separate application for the new visa only after we approve the extension of your work permit, is that OK? What will happen if this approval comes after my visa expiration?
Mokhlesim dadashSo do you think I am finally in the right track for BOWP and can I pay and submit the damn thing now ?
Thanks a lot folks, you are great help if you ever pass by Vancouver let me know and few pitchers on me
