It's been discussed so many times... International students say that they are so much better than outlanders, so well integrated, skilled and professional. But when you say that you got 3 year PGWP - so you could get at least 2 years of Canadian experience to get enough points for ITA -- they say that it's impossible to get a high skilled job for a fresh graduate. Such hypocrites!
lets stop bad mouthing each other... helps no ones cause

Any concrete source for potential changes for international students who did their education in Canada? Right now we're at a disadvantage of 50 points compared to internationals who received foreign work experience and as well got Canadian work experience. It's a shame, especially for those who get 4 year bachelors degrees, masters degrees in Canada for many times 100,000$+.

This petition is specific to PHD students only! What about all the international students with PGDip etc ?
No. It is not for PhDs only. Please read this paragraph in the petition:

"We, the undersigned, Citizens, Permanent Residents and Temporary Residents of Canada, call upon the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship to take measures to give priority to international graduate students in the application process for permanent residency, such as adjusting the comprehensive ranking system to award more points to international students who study inside Canada and/or allowing work experience under a study permit to count towards work experience in Canada."

You are wrong;

I enquire about this Petition; it will benefit only PHD students as clearly stated in the Preamble (first paragraph of the Petition) and you did not put the entire Petition in this thread, thus it is obvious no one will know;

Unfortunately, it will have legal effect only to PHD students if implemented, who are requesting for work (as teaching assistant for instance) undertaken during their studies to be counted as work experience.

For all respect and no offence, it is preferable to ask only PHD students in a separate thread to sign it. Thank you for your comprehension.

That policitian again fooled everybody just by saying that there are changes coming to Express Entry at the End of sept month. I guess he must have discussed the date before announcing it publicly.

Are you referring to McCallum? if so, he didn't specify that new rules and changes will be announced in September, he only said in Fall.

New changes could be announced sooner if Trudeau and McCallum stop pushing to receive more economic refugees.

Actually that's a good point. I've got personal experience of the visa rules changing 1st Jan.

Also, I saw an article in the news about the other politician that's working on the TFWP with McCallum and it looks like the changes are still going through a review phase
http://thetyee.ca/News/2016/10/06/TFW-Worker-Review-Union-Call/

So it doesn't look like they're anywhere near ready to announce....

I do not know how long is current government in the Office (also I have seen, that they were elected recently). The discussed changes will affect people more like end of 2017 to 2018 so I think those changes will be rather favourable to the current citizens rather than to the potential ones.
I expect more favourable rules for family and relative immigrants and also not cutting down LMIA as much ast they state they will (that is to please companies that need cheap labour).
For international students or outland applicants without previously stated ties, I do not see much happening. (they are not voters and only 50% of them will become potential voters more like in 5 to 8 years).
I even think, that federal system will become even more closed and most of the applicants will have to go through LMIA or PNP. (nope the current opinion pools are not favourable to the increased immigration amount, and they already brought in way too many immigrants this year).

Just because certain things do appeare in news as speculation it does not mean that they will be also passed as law.

Actually, the government needs to focus on international students because they need to please the education sector (billions worth industry). Easier path to PR means more int'l students will come to Canada and pay the premium tuition to various universities and colleges. To be honest, I don't think the government doesn't care much about the ordinary voters except re-election time, most of the time they only listen to their business lobbyists and wealthy investors.
