I took an International money order from USPS. But it says amount in USD. (I took money order for $500 USD, which is obviously more than 500 CAD) Would Sydney accept this?

If not, what other options are there to take money order in CAD?

No, they say Canadian $, check out the banks and USPS sells Canadian money orders http://www.usps.com/money/sendingmoney/sendmoneyinternationally.htm
