Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I am considering taking the study route to Canada (seems to be the most open at the moment), through which I would like to do a 1 year post grad certificate from one of the Ontario colleges...preferably with a co-op, but the cost is approximately CAD 12-13k just for tuition for international...is it worth that much? plus there is 10-15k more for accommodation, food etc..
I may consider working while studying as well to ensure a flowing income but I guess that will be small in-campus jobs for a few months, depending on when I settle down...but I think that should be fine..

Since it will be a post grad certificate in Ontario, I believe I can apply as international student in my last semester through Opportunities Ontario (which would be the co-op semester) or I can get a permanent job and apply under FSW, is this correct?

I would like to know - how does it work with regards to work permit?
The classes are 8 months, followed by a 4 month co-op...so how long and when can I get a work permit?

I would also like seniors (or any other experienced members) suggestions on whether this is a good idea?

Hi,
if you want, you can take a look on my posts in this forum, you may find something usefull as I've asked similar questions (not exactly like your issues) in this link http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/profiles/Ambitious15-u395243.html;sa,showPosts;start,15

but what I'm sure about is that ontario PNP for students stream is limited to only 1000 per year so make the right choice don't rush yourself.

refering to the member tiger007, he has mentioned that, apart of Quebec which provide the easiest PR under PEQ (programme de l'experience québecoise) Saskatchewan has a good program for students you have to check this link also http://www.saskimmigrationcanada.ca/student

please this is only what I've learn't here, I'm not in Canada yet but I hope so and I'll definetly share my personnel experience and help students here.

Good luck.

I believe Ontario PNP for students is only for Masters graduates, not PGD holders...

Oh...for some reason I thought I read that post grad certificates are eligible under the Masters category...i guess not...
But they are eligible under the "international students" category so can be eligible if they find a permanent job in NOC 0,A,B...which I guess is not so easy either...

so considering that the above is the case, is it worth 12k cad and a year to do a program (with a 4month coop)?
Also, does the coop really make a big difference with regards to finding a permanent job?

Why don't you do a 1 year program in Saskatchewan ??
After completion of course , you will get one year work permit.
And you need to work only 6 months [Any job] to apply for PNP Program.
Fees and living expenses - both are cheap.

Good Luck.

Will it be the same for PGD or masters in sask? in terms on PNP.

Can a person completing 1-year PG diploma and work for 6 months in saask apply for PR through PNP?

Yes, It has nothing to do with your studies,
If you graduate from Saskatchewan , then 6 months of work. [any job]

If you graduate outside Saskatchewan , then 1 year of work.

Good Luck.

or Manitoba option is nice too.

Manitoba International Student Stream

Applicants must:

Have graduated from a post-secondary program in Manitoba of at least one academic year in length;

Have successfully applied for a post-graduation work permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada; and

Be currently working in Manitoba and have received a full-time, permanent employment offer from their employer.

NOTE: Starting in 2011, applicants who graduate from a Manitoba post-secondary educational program of at least two academic years will be able to apply immediately to the Provincial Nominee Program in advance of receiving an offer of employment.

If you do a one year Post graduate course, get your one year PGWP, if you are lucky to quickly get a job then work for One year, when your PGWP expires you can apply for work permit if your job falls under NOC A, 0 or B then apply for CEC once your work experince is over one year. In my own opinion this should work, or betterstill befor you fifnis your study start looking for jobs in Provinces that has flexible immigration process like Manitoba Saks, and Alberta, be ready to leave your comfort zone. with determination and luck all will be well
