Possible to extend Visitor Record Visa? Consequence of possible refusal?

Hi guys,

I am a recent university graduate on a study permit. I have a neurological disorder since I was very young, so my mother has been staying with me here while I study. My doctor provided me with supporting document that I need her support. We were able to extend her Visitor Record Visa for 12 years, every year, 2 year, or sometimes 6 months. We came here when I was in elementary school. I know it's a very long time, and I've finished university study now. I am applying for a post graduate work permit, but I'm wondering what is the chance for my mom to stay here with me while I work after I get a job. I know that I'm even more of an adult now, but part of the reason she wants to stay here is that due to her marital status, she has to live alone in our home country, and I help her with everything when she's here with me. Staying together as a family will also save quite a bit of money. But of course these reasons are not valid reasons to state to CIC, and I think they can even lower the chance for her to get the visa. The only valid reason is my illness.

Do you think she can get approved for the visa extension? Currently she has until end of September.

I would also like to know if she gets refused, will that negatively affect her future visits to Canada? What about future visa applications? Parent invitation?

If it is hard for her to get the visa, or if her refusal will affect her visits in the future, I'm thinking I will go back to my home country for employment. There are different options I am considering depending on where I stay, but if I get a job here in Canada, staying here is definitely a better choice.

Any help and advice are welcome. Thank you.

it all depends on IRCC as to how they look at your case. Some people's done extension without any issue, some others rejected.

I see.

What is the affect on her future visit to Canada if her visa gets refused? Future visa applications? What about when I invite her for PR in the future?

Any previous refusal has to be noted whenever you apply again in the future for any type of visa or PR. Depending on the reason for refusal, it can make future applications more difficult, but not necessarily, if your situation has changed until then.
