Read this under M5: www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op15-eng.pdf

Medical conditions with status M5 might reasonably be expected to cause an excessive demand on social services. This in itself can be a reason for refusal(medical inadmissibility). I would say you are probably still a long way before you can expect the PR visa.

Did you submit a detailed plan of how his condition will be managed, proof that you have sufficient funds to continue paying his medical bills(this is separate from the funds required for landing)? If you didn't, then it's something to consider doing and work with his physician and an immigration lawyer so that it is done thoroughly. It is very possible that you will receive a fairness letter requesting this information(if you are lucky)...others are simply rejected.

Hello guys.

I am the prime applicant applied under skilled category visa.

My husband got renal transplant few years back because of which our application is still under hold. Embassy is holding passport of myself, my husband and my 5 year old son for last 2 years and not replying the result of our application.

Currently the medical status for my husband is M5. What is the possibility of getting our visa and by what time.

Could someone please advise.

Just picking up on this old thread...I got medicals last week and completed the same immediately. I answered my question to any past medical history as "NO" at the DMP's office but did inform the DMP that I was told to report to public health care when I landed in Canada and was cleared of any TB and was issued a letter that I am discharged from any follow up. The DMP saw the letter from public health care and also saw the chest x-ray taken in Canada which said everything is normal. The DMP laughed and said it is weird that the chest x-ray taken in Canada did not show any scar while the one taken before I landed in Canada showed a scar. DMP said that she will again look at the x-ray and let me know if there is any issue. She said "no news is good news". I called DMPs office after a week of completing medicals and the assistant told me that if I have not received any call from the DMP, it means that everything is fine and she said that all the results have been submitted online to CIC. I hope CIC will not ask me to attend any medical furtherance.

I have requested for my GCMS notes and wait for it...

My Timeline:
  • File Received: July 2018
  • AOR: Aug 2018
  • Interview Request: Sep 2019
  • Interview Attended : Oct 2019 (After Thirty Days)
  • Medial and Pre Arrival: Oct 2019 (On second day)
  • Medical Passed: Nov 2019

Application Expected Completion is in April 2020.

I have been living on the edge due to the delay. I have some doubt, hope I could find answer to that.
  • Have I passed the eligibility or not?
  • Is Background Check/ Security Check going on or completed?
  • What will be the next step now?
  • Did they passed me in the interview??
  • It is been three month since I passed the Medical. When will I get passport request? Any rough guess?
