Hello All

I was just looking at the scores of draws and realized this could be possible. When CIC did its first 2 draws on 31st Jan and 7th Feb there might have been many people (500-600) who created fake profiles saying they either have PNP or LMIA or job offer. This would have given them those additional points.

Now if these people were given ITA in Feb 21st and Feb 28th draws, their 2 months expire on or around 22nd April. since they did not accept the ITA they are put back in the pool and the May 22nd draw goes above 600 points again. Now, if they do not accept ITA their profile would have been put back in the system around July 22nd.

Surprisingly, enough the draw after 22nd July happened on 7th August wherein the points got spiked upwards again. I think the next 3 draws would moved downwards before spiking up again. People may face an issue in October draw again unless fake profiles are weeded out by CIC by removing people for a one year period if they haven't accepted ITA for 2-3 consecutive times.

Just food for thought.

Interesting theory. Not sure if that's how things actually are.

I understand if people created dummy profiles in JFM to check out the new system. But there is no real reason that the same people or a new set of people would then try and create dummy profiles in AMJ again. Unless they were trolling the system which again seems a pointless exercise.

I was talking about the profiles going back into pool as ITA is not accepted by the people who created fake profiles. The system by defaults puts them back in the pool after 2 months if someone doesn't accept ITA... Correct me if I am wrong

My bad. That's even more interesting. And you're bang on target!

CIC doesn't remove those profiles and they do go back into the pool. Possibly they push the draw cutoff higher as well but that is a hypothesis because one doesn't know the numbers of such profiles in circulation. But entirely possible that this factor may be skewing the draw cutoffs. If the next draw cutoff falls (rather than going up or staying the same) this could be tested further.

I doubt it. Anyone who created a test profile to see how the system works, isn't someone who wants to troll it so would, in all liklihood, have withdrawn the test profile. Having fakes in there would hamper their own real profile too.
I haven't heard of anyone who would actually want to go to the effort of creating profiles for fun. Its not something many people would get enjoyment out of it because what do they gain?
As we've seen, CIC updates tend to go in batches. Much more likely that any PNP's being issued and LMIA's being approved would be done in a similar fashion and that would account for large numbers entering with higher points around the same time.

There must be thousands of immigration agents who could make fake profiles just to get more frustrated applicants and more money from them.

I have a friend of mine who had created a fake profile. He already has PR from Canada but created the profile just to see how he could get his brother to Canada. My friend has now moved to US. I gave him earful for doing such a stupid thing and quoting an example of some guy who had attempted suicide as he was stuck at 449. This input from my friend made me think about analyzing the scores. Now my friend has withdrawn his fake profile so it is that one number short. If people on forum come to know of any such people please talk sense into them and get things the way it is supposed to be.

They are running statistics on the number of applicants who get ITA vs the number that get approved. If there is a significant portion of people who don't accept (due to fake profiles, or other reasons), they will increase the number of ITAs as needed.

There are plenty of things worth worrying about. This is not one of them.
