I read an article that for their own citizens of Trinidad and Tobago to return from a foreign country they must quarantine in the country they are in for 14 days and then another 14 days on arrival in T & T. From what I have read they are very leary of allowing COVID into their country again.
Understandable. But I don't know what that means for interviews.

It means unless you are already in T&T, Good luck getting in anytime soon. If they make their own citizens go through 28 days of quarantine I don't think they will be lifting restrictions for non-citizens anytime soon. Possibly when there is a vaccine!

Anyone from Cuba who needs a medical or an interview is currently in an impossible situation. Covid-19 is not going away. When wave 2 hits that will add many more months of border restrictions. Some experts are predicting 2 to 3 years of air travel restrictions. I don't mind 2 weeks of isolation to enter Canada, but going to a 3rd country for medicals and interviews is not a reasonable expectation. Canada needs to make some changes.

Someone I know got a similar response from the Trinidad office yesterday. They said that medicals have been extended automatically and that we don't need to requet the extension, but everything else was basically the same.
We are at 20 months ourselves. I have $1200 CAD tied up in Caribbean Air and another $450 tied up in translation services in POS - because they cancelled our interview just 5 days before it was scheduled. Sigh.

The VAC is different from the immigration section at the consulate - which I hope also opens soon! This indeed promising news!

Hey All - the other day I wrote to the TT office asking to extend our medicals (they expire on Sept 1) and if the interview could be waived. Here is their response. I am starting to suspect that my husband will have a security interview as they are very firm on it, and even though they told me to ask in July for the medicals extension, they didn't provide us with an extension yet.
Anyway, just thought I would share this here. My friend who is a citizen says he doesn't think anything will open up until well after the election, which is scheduled for August 12th. Sigh...

Good day,

This refers to your email below.
This is to advise that the medical results for you and your son are still valid.

Your application is in queue to be scheduled for an interview, this interview cannot be waived. In addition, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the High Commission of Canada, Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago has reduced operations to essential services only with limited capacity on site.

We will contact you with a new interview date and time once we resume regular operations.

During this period our office will have limited capacity to respond to emails.

Thank you for patience and understanding.

Regards

Sooooo frustrating. We heard that our bring forward date is August 1st. We also learned that that doesn't mean that they look at your file on that day. What is means, is that on that day, they put it on the BOTTOM of the pile to be reviewed again - so the agent has to get through all the files ahead of yours before they see yours again - and they told us not to expect any news until early September. It's crazy.
