Well ya i know email is the main one but scrolling through the forum i realise a few ppl just randomly got back theyre passport and seen the visa in it lol idkkk man. Ecas doesnt tell you the visa has been issued though, it changes to decision made when they send you the "dear *** we have reached the final stage blah blah". After that it changes to Complete when they land. My

Ok note taken ! Thanks girl :)

No problem ;)

Pretty much in order for your status to change to "decision made" you have to be approved first which is when you get that letter to finalize and send PP. Ecas doesnt go with real time because technically decision made should be seen before they send you the letter which refers to ("Decision Made we will contact you concerning etc"). Then after about a week or maybe tomorrow since ecas updates every thursday aparently then your ecas should be saying DM

You've clarified quite a bit for me. Thanks so much.
I understand.
My husband has a hard time believing that we have made it.
When he gets his PP back im sure he will be 100% reassured lol

Hey girl,
I have a few questions for you
1) When we send in the PP how will CIC notify me when they receive it ?
2) How will I know when they are sending it back ?

Hey Hun,

So sorry for the late response. You will have to take note of the tracking numbers. I'm assuming hubby will be sending passport on his own from Trinidad? That's correct right? So there are 2 options 1) you can create the label to send the passport and return to him using the fedex online site and email that to hubby for him to print out (you'll need an account for that. Very easy to create). This will ensure that you get an email when the package is delivered and when the package is returned back (also when hubby picks up package from office). 2) Hubby can send it on his own and notify you of tracking numbers (to send to POS and of return airbill) and you could keep track of it that way.

I did the first option because it allowed me to have more control of the tracking and it worked like a charm. Was emailed when in POS hands, when returned and when picked up by hubby.

I'd love to say that cic will communicate with you, but those cases are rare as far as I can see. I was never notified when visa was issued and status on ecas changed after hubby got his passport back.... so tracking number is the only reliable source.

Hope that helps! Congrats again!

Hey to all those who have reched the passport return part. I come to realise that i checked hubbys return tracking information and the passport is on its way back however, I realise some of you were saying you received an email from POS stating the visa has been issued and what not. I have not gotten an email from them isnt that strange??

Nope not strange. Never got one either.

He is living temporary in New York with his sister. He had to do the FBI report because that is a requirement if you lived in the US. We had originally requested that his file be processed through Ottawa and not POS as he has been in the US since January 2014 but CIC sent it to POS. I am hoping that is just a hold up. His file might me in the need documents pile. I just get stressed when I see 17 months to process some files through POS. ???

Staying positive though, I know it is all a process. :)

Hey! Okay makes sense. Rest assured it won't take 17 months. It'll most likely take much less time, but it may take a bit longer due to the US factor. You will get through though. Just a matter of time.

Actually see it as a blessing that Hubby's file is in POS and not the US or Ottawa as much as we'd assume it's processed much faster, is actually not. I've read how some people have been waiting for over a year and a half with those offices with no PPR yet. Most cases with POS are completed within 6-8 months so, you'll most likely be with hubby in Canada before the year is completed. :)

Hey CanadianInLove,
Ive been wanting to tell you the same thing, to not worry.
They need clearances from the US and then Trinidad so it will take a bit longer.
Im sure everything will fall into place real soon, no doubt about it.
I have you in mind all the time :)

Hey all,
I have a question !
This may sound really dumb but,
Is my hubby able to travel with a one way ticket ?
