I have some news, sort of, not really, but sort of.

I sent an email to my MP back home where I grew up (smaller population, larger voice, etc.) explaining the situation and saying that I'm not asking for any special treatment, etc., but that I have noticed that people with similar timelines have received decisions and that I was just inquiring as to the status of our application. Well within 3 business hours, my MP called me himself to tell me that he would have someone look into this for me. Less than an hour after that one of his staffers called me back with the following news:

Our file was reviewed in September and we're in the queue to get a date for an interview and that we should be getting that date soon. The MP's staffer said that if we don't get the date by December to call him back and he would look into it again. That was earlier this week. Work has been a zoo so I've been unable to update the peeps on here. As you can imagine we're feeling every emotion. Relief that we're "in process" (in my sense of the word-- I know that is different from how they use it); disappointed that we have to do the interview which will slow things down and of course just really happy that we have a timeline (as vague as it may be right now) for things.

I know we sort of jumped the gun with asking the MP but I was just starting to get overwhelmed with not knowing.

I'm glad b/c I ordered our notes at the end of October so hopefully we'll have those before the interview. So a Christmas reunion/anniversary is out of the question for us... We can't afford to have me go back there so soon. :(

Congrats on hearing some news. Hope your interview date is very near. Good that you ordered the notes so that you can see why they are requested the interview.

Good luck

Apparently POS doesn't know how to count.

Didn't they tell you seven days, MissD?
:(

Tell me about it. I am trying very hard to keep my cool and live by the "if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all" rule but they are pushing it.

Awww, Miss D, I don't even think it's possible to stay cool at this stage in the game. Why would they give someone a specific number of days when they aren't going to honour the timeline? >:(

At the very least you and your hubby are together and that must bring you both some comfort.

Have you sent POS a CSE or are you just leaving them alone?

I don't think you jumped the gun by contacting your mp. You are going to care more about your application and what is going on with it then anyone else. You were proactive and you received an answer which is a lot better than sitting in the dark wondering what is happening. I don't understand how it can take so long to schedule an interview...it's one simple phone call or email. *sigh*

i noticed that contacting yur MP seems to working very well for some of us, good job can-vic, our mp did a fabulouse jiob at getting back to us on a timely basis, so i would encorage anyoe who find they sitaution is taking to long to contact your MP.

that going same for you @missd 7 days please sound like 7 weeks, but i would encourage you to call yor MP. when we called our MP the only thing i regret was not calling him sooner.

congrats everyone on their news and those who got their pp in return or a request, hurry lets get out of here.

Okay so 30 working days from the time we requested our NOTES was October 4. Now its Nov 7 and we still haven't received them. We sent in the request since August 23 or so. I know that we are approved and what not because we are waiting for COPR now but what about the $5 dollars I spent for the service? Can I send them a CSE asking what happened to the notes or something because it just doesn't make any sense why we never received them.. Any suggestion or should I just leave it alone

Hi LouisFam, I had ordered our notes as well prior to hearing we were approved and we got them 6 days late FYI. You can email ATIP directly to inquire if you like, not a CSE to POS though as they do not have anything to do with the process of requesting notes. I would wait until next week and you should hear something by then. if not, go get em'! ;) Blessings.

Hi Can-Vinc, our MPs are employed to serve us and immigration inquiries generally comprise 75% or more of their job so just think of it as you are employing Canadians :D. It is very difficult to sit in a vacuum and not be able to access any info. about the course of our lives.

So glad to hear that you have a status update, I'm sure you would have preferred no interview; however, I am also sure your hubby will ace it. The last quarter for the gov't fiscal year is Jan. - March 2014 so I am pretty sure you will be hearing something between now and then. Remember, I believe Dadzin found out he was approved on the day of his interview so we know that there is always hope for things to move swiftly. Blessings.

Where do I get their number?

Thanks everyone! I was feeling a little guilty that maybe I asked too soon but I was starting to lose it a bit. It is always the worst the few weeks after returning from a visit. C&T, you nailed it... disappointed that is the route we have to go but happy to know it at the same time!

Hoping we get the date soon. We're hoping for a Dec interview and him landing in early 2014. We'll miss Christmas and our Anniversary but at least we'll have a fresh start in the new year.
