Hey everyone!
So today my husband receives another email from CIC. It has his UCI number (which we already knew from his previous wok permit) and basically states your application was received Dec. 13/2012. This was the date it was received in Mississauga. The email goes on to say how to check the application status, when to contact CIC and information about immigrating to Canada.
Has anyone got a similar email at this point in their application? Is this what an AOR looks like? Again it's fairly generic and there is no sense to it. Just wondering others thoughts...

lol....feast or famine. From everything I have read (I do not know what an AOR looks like as I only have my sponsor approval so far) the AOR comes directly from the visa office abroad (not CIC Mississauga) - in our case POS. So did it have POS info. at the bottom, what was the sending e-mail address?

Others that have AORs may be able to clarify.

The address at the bottom is POS. The sending address is Client-update-mise-a-jour@cic.gc.ca which is different from the address I received stage 1 approval from and also different from the email address he received the email from the other day. I just think its strange they are quoting the date of December 13/2012 too.

stage one approval usualy comes a few days after you send the applicaation to the cic office, the apporval usually comes 60 days after they recieved it at cic. when we got our AOR my wife and i was like why are they sending us the same thing they sent us a few months ago, we didnt realise or knew anything about AOR.

This is your AOR. They use the same date your application was received at Mississauga (they never state when they actually received it in POS). :) I will update the spreadsheet.

Congrats Behopeful! You now have your AOR (thanks for clarifying Millslu & Miss D.) So interesting that you got it so quickly after your CSE :).

I wondered if that was just coincidental or if I would have got the email regardless if I sent the CSE email. Oh well... My mind is eased knowing its in POS and hopefully sooner rather than later they will be processing it and the next email will be requesting my husbands passport!

Congrats on your AOR Behopeful

Thanks FAD! Almost 5 months since our applications were filed. Sometimes it seems bearable and others completely the longest time ever. Hopefully by the end of June (think that's the next quarter end) will bring lots of good news.

millslu!!!! I'm so happy your interview is only a few days away. Before you know it you and your wifey will be living under the same roof in Canada.

Here is my advice for your interview:

- be prepared and know every little thing about your relationship (I know you do!)
- dress professionally (like you would for a job interview, it will prove how serious you are taking the interview and your PR)
- be polite, courteous, and look directly into the visa officers eyes (confidence is key)
- most importantly, speak from your heart

I wish you all the best! :D

Hi guys!
I came across this forum I think it was in March or earlier and was amazed with all the suppprt that is happening here and most surprised I think to find a POS section!! I must have read through most of this POS thread. I have learnt A LOT from reading posts from everyone! I havent submitted our sponsorship applic as yet, but I do have questions to ask.

Some of the abv tht are used here, am just not quite sure what they mean:

COPR? : I think only one person used this
Aor?
ARC?
file x fer: Saw this in the spreadsheet
PPR: saw this in spreadsheet? Is it something to do with permanent residence?

Welcome Sabriyah and good for you for doing your research and finding this forum! I know there is a list of abbreviations somewhere and I will try to find the link and send it but in the meantime here are the ones you are asking about re: spouse/partner sponsorship.

COPR = Confirmation of Permanent Residence - Official document meaning the applicant (the person being sponsored) has completed the process and has been approved as a permanent resident (PR) and a visa will be issued for them to "land" in Canada.

ARC = If you have been the subject of a removal order from Canada you will probably need an Authorization to Return to Canada (ARC) if you want to return. Whether you need one depends on the type of removal order that was issued. More info. on CIC website.

File x fer = file transfer - I believe this is the date that the Visa office (VO) abroad receives the applicant's physical file from Mississauga

AOR = Acknowledgemment of Receipt - this usually means that the applicant's file has been transferred from Mississauga and received at POS or whatever visa office (VO) abroad that will be processing the applicant's file.

If you have read this thread though you will see that not all visa offices are consistent with this process (including POS) and many people will send a Case Specific Enquiry (CSE) e-mail to the VO after about 90 days from receiving their sponsorship approval (SA) to make sure that the applicant's file was indeed received.

PPR = Passport request. This means you are near the end of the process (except in New Delhi where for some reason they request the passport very early in the process) and the VO needs the passport of the applicant to ensure there is enough time left for the person to arrange travel to Canada and I believe some VOs staple the visa inside the passport. Not 100% sure if all do this. If you have not yet, please read Leon's post that is tagged at the very top of the family sponsorship tab everytime you come to the website. Best wishes and blessings for your journey.

Hi millslu, I was reading about interviews on this forum (as well as the broader internet) and I have read that very often people get told in their actual interview if they are approved or not right after the interview. So if they do not tell you try to remember to ask this question when you are done. No harm in asking right ;D? Prayers coming your way.

p.s. Miss D. hope you killed your exam last week!
