Hi inlimbo2012,we're staying there for 3days,just a little vocation for us
arriving 1 day before since the interview is in the morning.I know how
expensive the hotel are.we were checking some before,but thank god for
my best friend who husband were in the us army and have friends all over the world
so their found some where for us to stay.I will keep in touch.

Hey guys I'm a long time reader first time poster. I would like to thank all of you guys on this forum for helping my wife and I to prepare our application. I just got married to my wife in August and just sent my application to Mississauga yesterday. Just have a few questions, i used my wife's married name in the application but all the passport info and docs shows her maiden name.. Is that ok?

My wife did her meds on November 5th, what's the process of the doctors office sending the files to the processing center?? Does the Canadian office have to request it or do they send it in?

How long do I have to wait for a reply for the application from Canada immigration?

Welcome Trini100! Hopefully someone will add you to the spreadsheet based on the information you have provided and you can track your progress along with us.

I think you will be ok with the name change as long as you included your marriage certificate showing the new last name. I applied common-law so I can't be 100% sure on that advice - but I think you're ok.

The meds will automatically be sent from the doctor to Mississauga now, so you don't need to worry about that. They will match your meds up with your file when they start processing your file based on that receipt that you included.

Once your application reaches Mississauga, you will currently have to wait about 35 days (give or take) to hear back on Stage 1. This is where they will email or mail you telling you whether you are allowed to sponsor your wife (or vice versa, whoever is immigrating). If you pass this stage, which you likely will, your package will be forwarded to the POS office. It can take up to 2-3 months to hear anything from them about receiving your package (if at all, some people never hear anything about that) in the form of an AOR (Acknowledgement of Receipt). After that, processing time at POS ranges widely from 5 months (lucky people!) to 15 months (which is the time they say it takes) or even longer if you're really unlucky. I'd say we're averaging about 8-10 months at POS right now and more people are getting interviews than usual.. so it's hard to say.

Thanks! I've seen the 2nd link before but not the first... only 6 Canadian officers there.. oh my. I'm reading the 2nd link even though I did skim through it when I applied. They keep referring to IP # (eg. See IP 2 for ...) and I have no idea what that is... I would love to know! It says they try to process 80% of applications in 6 months, I wish

Just went to the Operating Manual to find out what IP means. It's their acronym for for Inland Processing. They refer to it in the overseas operating manuals when a procedure overlaps with that of the inland (rather than rewriting procedures repeatedly, they'll refer to the IP manuals where the relevant sections are cited).

The relevant sections of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and its Regulations
are cited in section 3 of each chapter of the Inland Processing manual that deals with an in-
Canada application class or type, and in certain OP chapters.

Do you work for the CIA? haha! Good detective work. That makes sense I guess.. but I have never seen a copy of the IP manual to look at the similarities.

GUESS WHAT??!!! My husband has an interview in Trinidad January 17th 10am I guess we woke them up! **spam** sent us a list of documents to bring and about 3 pages of questions to brush up on. Any advice would be great! Where we should stay, how to dress, anything really. Hoping everyone else receives great news too. Do you know if they issue the visa right then or would we have to leave and then send our passports?

Have I mentioned how excited I am!

Hi "Not Inlimbo2012 Anymore", you and I submitted our appl. and received AOR at similar periods in time. I am still awaiting word on whether I have to interview or not, so I was wondering whether in your opinion it would be a good idea to send POS any enquiries. I am a canadian citizen, i sent my hubby application in on the 15th of August. I got my AOR as a sponsor on Sept 25th which stated my application has been forwarded to a visa office( POS). Then on November 26th my hubby recieved an email stateing that they have recieved his Application on August 16th. Im confused shouldnt it say the date it was recieved in POS? also it stated that his medical has been recieved!

Hi Canadag, mine also carried the date it was received in Canada along with "Medical Results has been Received". So that's fine.
