@ MelanitaB, congrats at getting some kind of response from POS...hopefully you do hear from them next week with great news!
Did you send them your emails via the Immigration email address, or did you send Case Specific Enquiries?
@ Quebecb, I didn't realise that you had been waiting as long as you have! I am about 2 weeks away from the 1year submission mark, so I understand your frustration with not hearing from POS and not knowing the status of the application!!!
Hope we all hear great news from POS soon.

Do you think this will make it easier for REAL applicants in the future since they now have to promise to continue their relationship for 2 years or risk losing PR? I'm not sure it will deter fake applicants MUCH, but if that was the reason for implementing it, I wonder if CIC will let more true cases through instead of having people like Admirable and such waiting years... Will be interesting.

Also, who can update the spread sheet for me? Tranfer of file, Oct 2012.

Thanks!

hi guys, thanks for the usual support!
To answer, i write them every months, from january till now, got replys from jan to apr and then nothing until this week, i use case specific email.
We have been married 5 years and have 2 amazing girls together so the new rule wont apply but i do hope it can only help those of us who are in it for real.
Have a great week end, dont think too much about POS...but keep the faith!

I don't think this new rule will have any impact whatsoever on application processing times or success rates. This was implemented purely to satisfy all the Canadians claiming they were "duped into a fraudulent marriage".

Congrats Marlon! That's great news.

May I ask if you are a mixed race couple? I know your wife is from SLU and u are a Cdn citizen, but I didn't catch your persnoal details if you gave them. Thanks

Congrats Marlon :D

i love hearing fast progress stories...

@ missDominica.....im not understanding the reason to ask the mixed race question....? :-\
i mean...do you think it affects the process of applications if couples are mixed or not....?? just asking ???

I absolutely think it does. There are a lot of horror stories about mixed-race couples experiencing a lot of criticism during interviews etc from "racist" offers (read about Canadianwoman's story, for a great example). It should NOT, but sadly sometimes it does. Hopefully we are getting past that as a society though.

I am in a mixed-race relationship and I just want to prepare myself for any extra hurdles that I may face through POS although (KNOCK ON WOOD) I have not heard many about POS yet (it has been other offices). CIC is known to examine more closely/usually interview relationships where the couple is different in terms of culture, race, background, etc.

Hope you have room for one more! I have been searching every forum around and someone showed me the way to this forum. Kind of relieved that others are in the same boat as me. I am a Canadian citizen and my husband is from Jamaica. We are both living in Barbados until he can finally come to Canada with me. Our application has been transfered to POS. Here is my timeline so far...we are using an immigration consultant out of Toronto,Ontario.

Application received CPC-M: June 6 2012
Sponsorship approved: Aug 8 2012
Application transferred to POS
Oct 15 email received with UCI number for part 2 (residency application.)
No update on CIC website..still says Application received.

And now we wait!

@MissDominica....I'm in a mixed race couple, I'm mixed myself with Indian, black and spanish and my husband is white. We got through pretty quickly, from the file being tranferred to POS in Jan. and PPR in May. I know of another couple where the wife is white and the husband black and they got through faster than us. I mean, this is just anec-data obviously but I don't think the issue of race really affects the POS offices' decision. I think the culture difference is more important than race and Caribbean cultures are pretty westernized as to not raise any eyebrows.
