Hey MissD! I completely agree that things are way too slow from POS. I would really love to job shadow an IO for 6 months just to see what they actually do and why it can't be faster. I am in no way suggesting they arent busy but it would be an interesting experience. I always wonder how many of the IO have gone through the immigration process themselves. I hate the not knowing piece. It's hard having life put on hold for this waiting. I have been looking at buying a house but its such a big decision I would like my hubby to be apart of. Doesn't make sense to rent but don't know when he will return and life must go on in some way without him.

MissD were you able to access the notes from your file?

How long did people wait before sending an email to POS to confirm their application was received? Our application was transferred just over 2 months ago... Should I send an email or keep waiting?

I've decided I am going to try for a visitor VISA, but not until May. We are going to Trinidad in late March and April so likely after we come back I will apply. It's only 75$ so can't hurt really and don't know until we try. When others applied for a VISA did you go ahead and book the flight and if the VISA wasn't approved, just cancel the flight for a refund? I want to give as much evidence as possible but truly I don't even feel 1% confident we will be approved.

This office is entirely too quiet. It's putting me in a bad mood. I just wish SOMEONE would get a PPR soon and get the momentum going and give the rest of us the confidence and boost we need to know that they are at least doing SOMETHING over there. ???

I totally agree. Hearing something...anything would lift my spirits up.
I dont know what they are doing!!!

I am just going crazy. So many tears! The next time someone asks me if my husband is going to be there for my baby's birth knowing that he wont, I will FLIP...*vent*

Hang in there, MissD! It's been quiet in Kingston this week too. We're hoping for a lot of PPR's by the end of the quarter, and that it includes yours too!

I would wait another few weeks before emailing them to see if your application was received. IF they send out an AOR to say it's been received, it's usually between 2-3 months of file transfer. I got lucky and got mine is just over a month, but that was rare. Most people wait 2-3 months. So I'd say wait a couple weeks and send them off an email and maybe you can get your file number for hubby. That way you can check e-cas (even though it's useless most of the time lol)

As for visitor visa, I think you will have to buy the flights. When I filed for ours, one of the requirements was to include proof of travel (return ticket). It sucks because most tickets are not refundable - so when I cancelled our flights (visa refused), I only got a travel bank refund that I could use to book flights some day in the future, but never got money back.

I have not even ordered the notes from my file yet. Hubby sent me signed forms to send in to get the notes, but he sent them from Dominica weeks ago and they still have not arrived (snail mail). So I need to wait for those and then another 30 days for the notes to actually come... ugh! Such a drawn out process.

Awe that's super hard. I can't relate completely, because what you're going through with the birth is much harder than what I'm going through (just me, no baby on the way). But I have a similar experience. People ask if I'm married or have a boyfriend and I always say yes. And then they're ask, where is he?! So I tell them the experience... and they assume he should just be able to come. Well, he can't. Or they say, why so long of a wait, is there a problem? I don't think so, but I wouldn't know because I don't hear a word from anyone about it for months on end. Or, well, it won't be long, don't worry. Easy to say, when you're husband comes home every night. Mine is in another COUNTRY, so it's not easy.. even if it will be over soon. UGH. I know people are trying to be compassionate and are often just curious - but it sucks having to be like, "the person I love is trapped in their country and punished and not allowed to be with me because they weren't born in Canada and we have no idea when or if he will ever get here." It's crushing. I can imagine it would be a lot harder to have to factor in the baby and explain that.

The file number was the same on my sponsor approval and my AOR from POS. I can use hubby's info and the file number to sign into e-cas. The only difference is, when I got AOR from POS, I got hubby's own UCI number, which would not be listed on the sponsor approval as it's a unique ID for him that only gets generated through POS. When I sign in using his UCI from POS and/or the file number, I get the same info. So try it out and see if you can use hubby's info (DOB, country, etc) with the file number.

Sounds like many of us are feeling low right now. It's a difficult time and its very hard for people to truly understand our situations.
I logged onto E-CAS using our file number and my husbands info. Like you said MissD, not that helpful. It just says application received from December which was when the whole app was mailed to Mississauga. I know my husband had an UCI number from when he had his work permit. Would it be the same number? I'm assuming so. Problem is, my disorganized husband doesn't know where he put all that information. If he emailed or called do you think they would tell it to him? I'm getting restless with this process... Can you tell!?!! I know it won't help the situation so I'm off to distract myself!

It is hard on us all baby or not. I know people are annoying. And some of them act like my husband does not want to be here. Like my friend asked me the other day if he is going to at least try to be there for the birth? Umm dont u think if he could he would?

Yes, it would be the same UCI as he had before. I don't know if they would give it out over the phone... Maybe as a safety precaution to prevent people from calling and asking for UCIs and accessing files that aren't actually theirs. Maybe he could try... They might ask him some verification questions or something..

My e-cas has said app received with same date as I sent app to mississauga since october lol... So I hardly check anymore. Sigh

Well. It's F-ing Friday. The day I WANT to love but am growing to hate thanks to POS. Plus this weekend extra-sucks because I have a GINORMOUS exam next week (one of my last before becoming a doctor), so I'm super stressed and studying like a mad woman for that. ???

Try and enjoy your weekends everyone... I know it's hard when you're apart and not expecting news for a couple of days.

Let's hope that next week is PPR CENTRAL up in here... the end of 1st quarter is way too close to be this quiet.
