Yes, Ive heard that too. I also learned of someone who received a call from POS in Guyana. Apparently they were advised to report to CIC-GEO to drop off their passport on a particular date. They were told to go in the morning & received the VISA later the same day.

So its a true saying that every case is different. . .every VO is different.

Can anyone give advice on hotel accomodations in port of spain, whats close to the office, whats affordable?

Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt very expensive.
kapok is the cheapest hotel but there are also inexpensive guest houses around but you will still need a taxi from any hotel/guest house to go to the embassy in any case.
I will look for something for you, there is a hotel i have in mind, cheap but good. See if I can find it. Also the guest houses.
How long will you be staying?

this is the place i had in mind. its just clean and just to sleep. Its the cheapest. 25 to 50 us a night. |its also a block away from the Embassy! :)

i found this place its about twice as much as the above but with rave reviews...its in Belmont however...a little farther but might be worth you calling to have a look into ..but find out about taxi service. Its about 50 us going up. But with rave reviews.

and lastly i went to this place when i was checking a guy a couple years back...its way up on chancellor hill around the queens park Savannah but I don't know if they have any taxis there..and its about 25-60 us per night. This is better than Par may Las Inn for the price but the Taxi Service you definitely need to enquire okay!

Lastly if it was just one night or two...i would pick Kapok! its really good value for money. I will keep looking around there is one more hotel i had in mind but farther.

GT,

CHC-GEO does not issue visas for the longest while. I am guessing here this person you were referring to had gone through the process ages ago. The passports are dropped off at the office and then they are sent via courier to CHC-POS where only POS for this region prints and stamps the visa in the passport.

Yes, I know its processed in Trinidad. BUT, is it not possible for POS to send the VISA to the CIC office in GEO and have it enclosed in the passport there? (For example, if they need no further documentation).

Could you believe that when my parents left Guyana back in the 60's they sent the VISA directly to them in the mail . . .According to my mother, they were instructed not to open the 'envelope' with the VISA until they arrived infront of an IO. :P

Times have sure changed. . .

Honey: Thanks soooo much for the information, I will look into them.

I think they have to follow certain policies when it comes to issuing visas. For example, the only office that issues visas for this region is POS and at the time the Visa is printed, it has to also indicate the place where it was printed, in this case, Port of Spain. So, I don't think they will print the visa in POS and bring it to GEO to paste into the passport. I think there is also more to just printing and pasting the visa into the passport. BUT, I can be wrong. These are just my thoughts and views on how they do it.

I never knew you needed a visa back in the 60s from GEO to migrate to Canada. I guess in your rents case it was a PR visa?

I know before the Government of Canada used to all visas be printed at the CHC-GEO office but since all these securities measures have been put in place, they had to invest in more expensive technologies which I think made them cheap to put new printing machines in each VO. Therefore, they sorted out regions in which one office is responsible for printing all visas.

Again, my little thoughts :D :D :D

here is what they said in the letter:

5th paragraph.
Please be advised that you are required to provide all necessary documents to prove that the relationship between you and your sponsor is genuine. if you have not already done so, please submit to our office proof of the relationship including letters, cards, photos, phone bills, proof of sponsor`s visits and or other documents that prove ongoing contract between you and your sponsor. please do not submit used phone cards are they will be destroyed. it is important to note that providing convincing proof of your relationship at this time has a direct impact on the speed and efficiiency upon which we are able to process your application. you are required to provide this information to this office within 30 days of the date of this letter. please quote your file number listed above in all correspondence with this office.

Honeybird,
our AOR stated the same thing, but we have already sent everything we had in the original package. I don't think for myself,
anymore further information is required. They did say, ' if you haven't done so already'.

Honeybird,
I think the letter is standardize, I had one year of phone records, emails, money transfer
receipts, boarding passes, you name it, that was sent in the original package. Like confused advised, it wouldn't
hurt to send in what you have accumulated until now.

MaNCrab

i know i am panicking...lol. But i am sending in what i had since when we sent in the application, we indicated that we were undertaking a trip so i want to put in the pictures of that, since that is where i met his entire family who were not able to make it for the wedding and who i never met before. i guess its more to show completeness of the relationship that not a marriage of convenience also because we did not submit alot of information before, we did not take alot of pictures etc before cause we never thought at the beginning we would get married. Also we submitted our application three weeks or two weeks after we got married so we don't have proof of after marriage relationship. Otherwise if i was comfortable i would leave it as it is..

Honeybird,
try and put something together, with a letter indicating proof of
continuing relationship, sends photos with the dates and location at the back,
boarding passes attached to itineraries, and phone bills, emails e.t.c.
Indicate in a letter that these are the things accumulated since the initial
package was sent, they should see from that.

thats what i am currently doing :)
today i go to digicel to get phone records..(theymust be tired see me in their office) and stalk out the canadian embassy (located in front of digicel)LOL ;)
