You maybe able to salvage your files chat logs etc. You can add the laptop hard drive to a pc and retreive the files that way or you can purchase a portable hard drive enclosure, add the HD to it and then use it as a portable hard drive via usb. You would need to know if the hard drive is a SATA or IDE drive tho.

a good tip on saving evidence, is uploading pics to fb, or saving things in your email. That way no matter if the hardware crashes, you can still retrieve them later on. It helped for me. I immediatly upload all my pics to fb, and just private the albums if I dont want anyone to really see. Cant tell you how many times this has saved me from losing pics. Same with copy n pasting stuff then emailing it to myself!

I feel so stuck without my passport. Looks like i'll be missing my cousin's wedding this weekend in St. Lucia!!! Such a bummer!!!!!
