Police Clearance Certificate

Hi,

I am an Indian citizen in India rightnow. I got married to a Canadian citizen in Jully 2018. I was in USA 2001 - 2006. I have passport issued from san francisco. For spousal visa, I need Police clearance certificate PCC from India as well as USA. Since getting PCC from USA will take time, Can we submit the appilcation for spousal visa before getting PCC ? Or do we need to wait to get PCC from USA? also, what is the procedure to get PCC from USA? How much time it will take to get it?

Hi there! I don't know much about USA. But can tell you 4 sure in Punjab India you MUST have Passport before even they look at your request for PCC. I suggest get both PCC and attach than taking a risk of BIG delay like; package being returned back .

Hey @Sshirali I am guessing the Indian passport issued to you in San Francisco is now expired. Anyway, the Document Checklist for Canada Spousal Sponsorship mentions:
You (the principal applicant), and any family members 18 or older (who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents), must submit police certificates from the following country or countries at this time, unless indicated otherwise on the police certificate webpage:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/medical-police/police-certificates/how.html

• The country where you (or they) currently live, if you have lived there for six months or more; and
• The country where you (or they) have spent most of your (their) life since the age of 18.

If you have been living in India for 6 months or more, you need a PCC from India. If you have spent most of your life in India since the age of 18, you probably do not need any other PCCs at all "at this time". It all depends on your date of birth and dates of travel. In any case, if you do not submit all relevant/applicable police certificates, your application may be considered as incomplete and may be returned to you or the sponsor. If you go to the link above and select United States of America from the dropdown list, it will tell you how to get a PCC from the US. It looks like it's quite a simple process and will not probably take a long time.

Need Urgent help...

I sent the forms and my passport to SF via fedex, i sent a return envelope along with my shipment. The smart people at fedex canceled the return label and cannot reinstate it. I have tried calling extension 148 at the SF consulate but I guess they don't respond to phone calls. What are my options please advise...

I got soft copy of US police clearance on 14 December 2018. Its valid for 90 days. Will they send me hardcopy of it by post? Or do I need to request them for sending it. My Immigration consultant in Toronto told hardcopy of it will be required for my spousal visa processing. Pl suggest what should I Do?
