Police Clearance Certificate Query

Hello Folks,

I have a query about getting the Police Clearance Certificate (PCC). We are the citizen of India. I am the primary candidate. My husband was in US on F1 and then on H1B for about 6 years from 1997 to 2003. I had accompanied him after our marriage on H4 visa for the last 7 months of our stay Oct 2002 to May 2003. Later on, I was sent on L1 visa to US twice; once for around 2.5 months in 2007 and again for 45 days in 2014. Does both of us need a PCC from United States? If so, is it easy to get the PCC while not staying in that country?

yes you need a PCC and generally it is straightforward process but takes a long time to obtain (2-3 months). Check the FBI website for info on how to obtain a PCC

My husband had Social Security Number; but since I was on H4, I do not have a social security number with me. I see that the FBI form has the SSN field set as mandatory. Any thoughts on that.

I don't think it's mandatory to have a SSN considering you have to send your fingerprints which will be matched with their database.
