Hi,

Me and my husband are planning to move to Canada and we both are eligible to Canada Express Entry class. We have already collected below documents to register to express entry pool:
1. ECA
2. IELTS score

Also, we have already initiated police verification procedure to FBI as currently we are in USA. As per cic website, we need to collect pcc from Indian embassy too.

Can we apply for police clearance certificate to Indian embassy as soon as we registered to express entry pool, and before we get invitation from cic?

Thank you in advance!

Yes, you can as long as you are not planning on going back to India before you receive an ITA. Otherwise, you will have to get a new one when you return.
Thank you so much !! :)

One more question, what kind of document we need to carry before we visit to Indian embassy for police clearance certificate?
I mean we are planning to get it done (PCC) before we get ITA from cic. So we have to show some kind proof that, we need PCC for Canada immigration.

Please help.

you need 35x35mm six photographs, your original passport and application form which can you download from bls website, then you can go to your local bls centre and submit application. In my case it took 10 days to receive pcc from vancouver i m in edmonton

Thanks,
Ridhi

Hi Ridhi,

I applied and received my PCC from Indian Consulate in SFO (San Francisco) a couple weeks back.
You need to carry your and your spouse's passports - along with the filled and completed forms (there are two forms to be filled - you can find them on the consulate website (can't post links here - google for Consulate general of India, then search for miscellaneous services > PCC)

Forms: Miscellaneous Application form (1 copy) and Personal Particulars Proforma (3 copies) - both would are available for download at the Indian Consulate website address given above

Proof of current address: Copy Utility Bills, or Driver's License - it should show your current address and name
Photographs: standard visa size photos (2x2 square) - You'll need 4 photos each.
Also, you'll need either a cashier's check (you can get it from your bank or get it made at any 7/11, CVS etc) for $28 (this was in San Francisco - so I'm assuming this would be same all over the US)

This should be good enough.

Hi Prasenjit,

Thank you so much for this valuable information :)
I guess we need to visit to New York, consulate office because we live in Philadelphia, PA state.

We will walk-in to New York office for PCC once we register to express entry pool. We are still waiting for our ECA to come from WES. It's been 3 weeks but no response from them :(

Fingers crossed It will come soon. ???

Regards,
Ridhi

Hi prasenjit1986,

Thanks the detailed description of the documents required! Just one question, how much time did it take for them to process your request? Do they keep the original passport with them?

Thanks! Appreciate your help!

The time taken for processing depends on the existing workload of that particular Indian embassy based in that country. Usually, while submitting your PCC application, the Embassy or the outsourced agency will let you know the estimated processing time. You need to submit your passport to them and you will get it back along with the PCC. There will be a stamp in your passport for the PCC issued.
All the best.

Hi Guys, New User here.

Currently in the US. Applying for a police clearance for India from Atlanta Consulate office. I had 2 questions and was hoping someone with experience in this matter could answer them.

1) On the forms requirement link it doesn't state how many passport size pics I need. But the 'Miscellaneous form' has 1 area for a picture. My question is do I need 1 passport size pic or more ? I read Online in a few places that stated 4. Hoping someone can clarify this. I'm pasting the link I was looking at for the consulate.

http://www.indianconsulateatlanta.org/cgi.php?id=Pcc

2) Once I get the answer to the above and apply and get my PCC. Does that mean I should not go to India till I get my ITA, submit docs and get the perm. Resident card. Since India is after all home and have family there and would want to visit in awe of emergency.
*I read somewhere on one of the threads that as long as we do t stay in India for more than 6 months than we are fine and can visit india for a few weeks and don't need to get a new PCC ?

Could someone please shed some light on this ?

Thank you guys

Hey Folks,
Can somebody confirm whether we can get the PCC in two days if we do it in person at the embassy ? I think on the Washington DC website it says that we can walk-in with the documents today and get the final certificate the next day subject to all the required documentation is in place. Is it true ? It would be great if anybody can shed some light. Also what are the current average processing times if I mail in my documents ?

Thank you in advance for all the assistance.

Thank you.
