I have an urgent question need to be answered, if anyone have the same situation or trouble as I have met. Please share your thought. Really appreciated!

Here is the problem. I submitted my application on Feb and I visited Japan more than 6 months before, so according to CIC's request, I have to submit Japanese police certificate and I did so in April. Everything is fine so far. However, on July I was on a business trip in Japan again and I will go back to my home country in the end of August. According to CIC's website, the police certificate must be issued after you last lived in that country or territory. Since I visited Japan again. Do I need to updated my Japanese police certificate in Japan or after I leave Japan? Or I don't have to update it since when I submit it in April, it was issued after my last visit? Please, somebody help! Thank you so much!

You need a new certificate dated on or after the day you will leave Japan.

Thank you for your information. Actually, I went to Japanese police station today. I explained my situation and requested a new one. However, they won't give me new police certification because they said I have already requested one before. They would only provided new one if Canada immigration center request me to do so. So what should I do? Wait to get a message from CIC to get a new certificate? I'm really stuck here.

You need a new certificate dated on or after the day you will leave Japan.

Last time I took me two months to get the Japanese certificate. If CIC requst new one, I'm really worried I won't be able to provide in time.

You can show them the requirements where it clearly states that you need a certificate after your exit from the country. That's why they need to reissue it, or provide an update on it that your criminal history is clean between the dates of your last certificate and current exit date.

I will leave Japan next Wednesday, even if they give me new one, it will not fit the condition stated above. Because the issue date still before the date I will leave Japan. Does this mean I have to re-apply after I leave Japan next week?

I have raised the question to CIC last Friday, CIC still not respond to me. I asked them do I need to provided new Japanese police certificate because I visit Japan again.

When I provided the Japanese police certificate to CIC in April this year, it was after the last time I lived in Japan. So CIC should not ask me to provide new one because of this. They request us to update marriage status, child birth and so on, but they didn't ask us to update police certificate. Does this logic make sense?

Yes, you either need to apply for it on the date of your departure or after you have left.

When I provided my Japanese police certificate in April, it was valid. You said it only need to be provided for once. Does that mean I don't have to update it anymore? Thanks!

I would say you do not need to provide a new one as you are travelling after you have submitted your application. I had to go back to the UK last week for my mother in laws funeral. I will not be providing an updated UK police check as the one I submitted when I applied was valid.

I got your point. But the tricky thing is that I have already provided Japanese police certificate in April. The other people who got rejected because they provided the wrong (not issued after they leave the country) document the first time. I didn't see anyone got rejected because they haven't update their police certificate. Do you get my point? Anyway, my situation is very tricky and I'm very worried!

Yours message give me some comfort. Still, as regard the validity of police certificate, I'm not sure. The issue date of my Japanese police certificate was in about Feb, 10th, but now it's Aug. Do you think my first one is still valid?
