will I need a police certificate For Canada if I have been here for a year, or is it not needed? Also will me partner who is sponsoring me need one?
How long does it take to get one?I imagine you would yes. sponsor doesn't need one. I have a Canadian pcc for another thing and it was done at the local police station and was batched that week.
I was told as long I got my request in by Wednesday of that week I could pick it up on Friday so very fast. I assume its the same pcc Canada needs, I asked for the most stringent criminal record check including vulnerable sectors check to be able to chaperone school trips. they just inputted my info, printed off the results, signed it and done! if only VO background checks were that quick. How long does it take to get one?
I am especially confused if I need one or not. This says http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=037&top=4 that I don't, but other people are telling me I may. Can anyone else chime in? Can I even get one as a visitor?I was told as long I got my request in by Wednesday of that week I could pick it up on Friday so very fast. a more senior person can chime in but what ive seen here is that anyone who's spent 6 months in any country needs a police check in that country. if its not a problem getting one id do it. Theres no penalty for adding it when its not needed, but if you don't get one, and they need it, you could risk a needless delay.I am especially confused if I need one or not. Is it possible to get one as visitor? I am worried if I don't get one and they request it could take months to get. Read the top it says "Do you need a police certificAtion with your PR app?" Under that it says "No". I wish they were more clear... I have also lived in the states my whole life, but once I hit 18 I came up here, and I have not lived there for more then 6 months, but I'm still unsure if I need one. So confusing!!!https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/medical-police/police-certificates/how/canada.html
there you go found the instructions for pcc's canada instructions. id certainly get ahead of the game if I were you. after file transfer to the VO, they'll see your "schedule a" travel history and will likely ask for it.
My understanding is if the PA (only) resided in Canada for 6 months or more consecutively, then he/she needs to get an RCMP fingerprint report. However, this week I was corrected by some people on a FB group for spousal sponsorship that this is no longer the case. We submitted this report in July as my partner was in Canada for a period of 1 year on a working holiday visa. We ordered GCMS notes and it showed that they did their own internal checks via RCMP database (probably just a name search) but they also wanted the fingerprint report. It may be that our VO requires most applicants in this category to submit, but not so for other VO's? I am not up on the latest requirements for this as we submitted in July.will I need a police certificate For Canada if I have been here for a year, or is it not needed? Sorry, so does this mean I don't need a PCC for my time in Canada? My understanding is if the PA (only) resided in Canada for 6 months or more consecutively, then he/she needs to get an RCMP fingerprint report. It looks like here, the other OP went to a local police station and had them do a police security clearance report via name search. My partner had one done also before he left Canada. For this you need a valid piece of photo ID like a driver's licence. Once he left, he didn't have a valid ID as is needed for this. We found out that this police report is not going to cut it if they request a valid PCC for Canada. They want the fingerprint search. As I am not sure if you need one now, maybe it is best to wait for them to request the document. If you don't have a criminal record, it should take less than a month to obtain, once you send the fingerprints in to get digitized.
I am not sure you need one now. Just wait for the request and then get it as some people are telling me that the 6 month rule does not apply for Canada anymore because they are doing their own internal searches. The report cost us over $100 after the digitizing process, so if you may not need it, wait and see if you get a request first. For many, it comes around the time Schedule A is requested.Sorry, so does this mean I don't need a PCC for my time in Canada?
