hi guyz i have done Bcom and CA from india and Cpa from US i already received first aor from Nova Scotia my question how many points will i get for my qualification?

Hi Setcanada,

Being a US CPA or CA from India doesn't count any points under educational credentials...

Compute the total no. of years you have studied...and refer to the website for the points to be awarded..

guyz not satisfied with bahrain_pearl reply as total study after +2 is for b.com+CA+CPA=3+4+1=20 years..
Any senior member comments please
bahrain_pearl if you dont know things dont comment and dont mislead other people.

I'm not misleading you...

education classifications (wherein you have obtained diploma) are:

1. till B.com (if your B.com is 4 years)= 15 years
2. Master's/Ph.D Degree = 2+

Your CA/CPA is your professional qualification certificates.

Considering your calculations for your study length is correct, you can claim 22 points. Though your length of study exceeds the maximum 17 years as indicated in the guide yet your not holding MS/Ph.D...Read the guide further...http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp

Well i think you should get 25 marks for your education becz its more than 17 years of education.

C.A. or CPA both are Professional degrees not Master Degrees . So 22 points. Some rules of embassy are very strange. If you have degree of Master In Commerce , One should get 25 points and if you are C.A. from India , One should get 22 points however in terms of Value , Salary and recognition , C.A. designation in India have triple value than simply Masters in Commerce.

Exactly...the guide in claiming education points is clear...length of study AND degree earned...Whether you have studies for a total of 20 years yet you're only upto Bachelors Degree then only 22 points...However, if you have earned a Masters Degree plus your total study period of 20 years then you should be claiming 25 points....However, only 22 points are available to you...

Himanshukhamar is right that having those qualifications have the edge in securing for a job once your in Canada..But since you are still about to apply, then for now is is of no great essence....

Hi Setcanada

Its sad for us...but its true..we are not getting any point for CA :(. Points are upto B.Com, as per my knowledge and as per consultants I consulted, are 20.

under this slot
A university degree of two years or more at the Bachelor's level, AND at least 14 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study
20

hi auditor
with B.COM+CA surely ill get 22 points as in canada Indian CA consider as bachelor degree & with two bachelor degree (Bcom+CA) will give us 22 points i just wanted to confirm how canadian authorties treat CPA will i get any extra points for that
Thanks

Its not that CA is another degree, even if its equivalent, it is not called a bachelors, else people with CFA will be claiming masters.

However, CA is a 3 year certification (am i correct on that), so if you have the required number of years of study, you may get 22 points.

Just to clarify, the above came from a friend, not me. I have no idea about CA, CPA, etc.

Points are not based on salary potential. If that was the case, my friends engineering bachelor's degree should get more points than my english masters degree or even a PhD in English.

If somebody is C.A from India without Bachelor Of Commerce degree then of course 20 points but some body have B.Com+ C.A. then 22 points as 2 Univercity degrees. If some body has B.Com+ C.A.+ C.P.A. still 22 points because to claim 25 points one should have atleast 17 years of education AND Master degree or PHD.

AND is very cucial in above.

I email to AICPA to confirm what is equivalancy of CPA in US (i.e bachelor or masters etc)..Will let you guys knows if get reply from AICPA..Thx
