Hello everyone,

I'm new and was referred by a friend.
i'm still trying to ascertain which is better/faster- PNP or FSW.
My husband is an architect and i'm in marketing.
He is the principal applocant and we have decided to apply ourselves and save the application money.

Looking forward to your responses. Please expect more questions.

PNP - faster processing but we are restricted to one province only.

my analysis says that PNP is better because after working for some period in your province if someone gets a job opportunity in other province, then any employer would consider giving a sponsorship since we have some canadian work experience. Also we would get enough knowledge about environment there and know how to get things done quickly once we reach there, if required. It is difficult for business oriented people though

first choose which are the cities in canada where you would want to settle. the province having max number of your fav cities should be your target. 90% of people would target ontario for having toronto and ottawa.

PNP for a province like ontario is good. but then again number of PNP applications for ontario would be equally large so before applying better check average processing times (saving more than 3 mnths time = worth). But unfortunately theoritical time neevr matches the actual time else even FSW are claimed to be processed in 6 months. So we need real examples and forums like this to analyse actual PNP timelines.

we all choose a city where we want to settle before we leave. so why not do it earlier and then apply for PNP? I think people's tendency to get maximum at the very first go gets them to apply for FSW.

Thank you all for your responses. Actually thought no-one would comment.

My own concerns have been raised here- the PNP requires a job offer; how realistic is it to get a job from another country esp when you do not yet have a work permit? Would the company wait for you throughout the processing time (> 3 months )?

We are definitely looking at Ontario as I have been informed that the other option we were considering; Alberta, has temperatures that I would not like to experience on a daily basis. I feel that getting the PNP and then transiting to FSW would be an easier way to get the PR but how do we get the job offer?

Anyone with experiences/ advise to share?

Thank you.
