Hi, kelotz,
Nice to hear that things are going well with you there.
Just want to know, how many days or months did it take for your PR card to arrive?
We shall be landing there on dec 19...
Thanks,

Elena
Hi Elena, according to the immigration officer we will receive the PR card in 2 months. I am expecting before January 23.

Hi guys,

Good morning. i just want to ask some questions regarding our application..
here's the situation

My wife and I got our MR Nov.18, 2013 and already done with the medical examination ECAS – “Medical Examination Received” (as of Dec.11,2013) The problem is my wife's passport will expire on September 20,2014.She already book an appointment for passport renewal on the 9th of February 2014. If the PPR arrived before that scheduled passport renewal do we need to inform ADVO regarding that or just attached the old passport( with the visa ) to the new one and present both when leaving the country. We are here in UAE and passport renewal may take a while.

How long should the passport be valid before landing. we intend to depart from Philippines. Fellow kabayans please help.

Thanks alot,

NiqNok13

Kabayan the validity of the visa which will be given to you and your family is dependent on your family's passport validity. I would suggest for you to submit the renewed passport when the PPR comes. Assuming PPR comes before the scheduled passport renewal, you have to contact them and inform them of your situation. They normally provide extension depending on the applicant's case.

There were discussions about this kind of issue in "Timelines for Filipinos submitted pnp-pr applications at CIO". It will be beneficial if you read them. Go to pages 453 & 454. You can also seek help from ad123164 and ragluf. They are fellow Filipinos which are helpful to everyone.

GKarl,
Thanks for the info.. i read the discussions you mentioned and based on that i think i my wife really needs to renew but my big problem is we are here in UAE and passport renewal as i said will take a while as much as 3 months (so frustrating). im seeing only one option here : to come home and renew in Manila. But she cant get appointment by Jauary 2014(on the online appointment displays error asking to choose another date).
All we know is she needs to renew ASAP. NO matter what...

You're welcome. Yes she definitely needs to renew her passport in preparation for the PPR. Sad to hear that renewal in UAE would take as long as 3 months. I just recently renewed my passport here in Qatar and got it within 45 days.

I believe there's exception to the appointment rules in Manila. They are giving priority to the OFW's, no need to secure appointment. You just need to present certain document such as valid employment contract or OEC. Kindly check this link:

i checked the site and yes it is clearly stated that OFW's can come without appointment. i hope this issue will be resolved before PPR.. i asked my mom to check with DFA just to be sure. Coz she can't risk going home and then wont be entertained., if that happens it will be a total waste of time.

thanks again

silverduz.. even if its only 3 weeks for releasing my wife's appointment is on Feb 9 2014. with that time frame it wont be enough. If PPR arrived anytime before Feb.9 we will be in a difficult situation that's why my wife is planning to take a 2 weeks leave and go home to renew.
