Good evening all. When does the 16 month process start? From the date CIC receive your application or from the date they start processing it? CIC received my application on March 3rd, 2016. Thanks in advance

It starts at the date they receive your application.

Hi all. This is my first post here. I am a March 09 applicant. Can't really whine because seeing December and January applicants still waiting for DM/PPR makes me feel I have a long way to go. Anyways, the mental distress is getting unbearable for us all.

Just wondering if you get passport back after PPR, can you travel to the US while you wait for PR card? Is there any provisional document that acts as a PR card?

hii everyone
could you please help me,
I am march 10th applicant. I SUBMITTED MINE AND MY HUDBAND UPFRONT MEDICAL ON NOVEMNER 15,2016.
On April 2017,I ordered a gcms notes it showed that medicals received and review in progress. On march 15 2017 ,MY MEDICAL EXPIRED AND MY HUSBAND MEDICAL WILL EXPIRE IN JULY 20,2017.Today I called my representative ,and he told me to do new medical for me as well as my husband ,because they will definitely ask for medicals again. What do u think that ?Do I need to do our medical again or just wait for asking that?..............please help me........................
We did upfront too, me and my husband medical already expired april 26,2017 .. but my children got MR May 01,2017.. i think they did extend our medicals.

You are not alone. My GCMS also shows PS. Usually after your medical is cleared it goes to PS. After which I expect it to be a file transfer to Ottawa. FYI mine changed to PS on 23rd March and as per my 10th May GCMS my file was still in PS.
Had you ordered GCMS before medicals? I wondered what the location of your application was before the Meds.

I have exactly the same timeline as yours. But I am still waiting for DM. My background changed to in process since April 25.

I think there are two circumstances for background change. One is getting DM after one or two days or at the same day after BG change to IP. Another one is waiting one or two months or even longer after BG changes to get DM.

Hope Jan applicants will get DM soon.

Hopefully you'll get it in a week or so.

I applied on April 25, 2016, received medical request on May 1, 2017, and passed it on May 16, 2017.
Based on my GCMS notes, so far I have passed criminality, medical, and eligibility. Security is the only pending thing. However looking at how early Jan and Feb applicants are still waiting, I am pretty sure I have a long way to wait. Really really frustrating and worrysome.

Many Congratulations to guys who got their BG in Progress, DM and or PPR. Happy for you. It seems like they are working a bit.

I was just wondering are there any applicant between 16th-22nd Feb? Also, Any Feb applicant who is still waiting for BG turned into in progress ?

Hope for the best.

Hi friends I've done my medical on feb 14 and got schedule A and background declaration is it because I changed my address please advise me thanks.

This is what I found from other thread. I hope this is helpful to you.
.
As soon as the eligibility is met, next comes the security and criminality (or background check). Usually the criminality is met through the Police Clearance Certificates (PCC) uploaded with the application. If the applicant has been to a country which is suspicious, or your travel history does show frequent visits to a country without any explanation, the same are recorded and evaluated. If things look good, your criminality is passed. A lot of applicants receive a request for Schedule A at this stage to ensure no gap time is present and the history is clear.

This is what I found from other thread. Just shared with you guys so we have have better idea about 'Security' thing. I hope this is helpful to you and receive PPR asap.

The last and the final stage is the security. This is a serious & time-consuming stage, involving many agencies, including Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), International Police (INTERPOL), Criminal Database Checking & touch-base with Local Police. Many things are considered here. Number of countries visited, Applicant coming from 'certain' countries, past law enforcement or military record, Prolonged stay in a country w/out sufficient docs to prove cause, frequent traveling to certain nations, your *Name (?), Inter-Religion/Nationality Marriages etc. If everything is simple & straight, the file soon gets into the 'final review' stage. If there are any 'red flags', the case goes into a 'spin'. Then the file might go to the local Police/intelligence agencies; the outcome/timeframe of which is beyond the control of CIC. And thereby the timeframe can be anything [sometimes beyond 1yr]. But, usually this stage should be over within 1-2 months. However, a point to be noted is that the applicant can also be called for an Interview [at this stage], due to this reason. For some people the security has a quick turn around.

At the final review, when the security results come in, the PPR is issued.

Feb 10 applicant. Background changed to in progress May 23, Still waiting for DM :( :( Everyone else seems to have gotten theirs!

What is ur file location?
My GCMS notes is dated March 15, 2017, as of which date it says Centralized Intake Office as primary office and CPC - Ottawa as secondary offfice. Do you know what it means?

I ordered new GCMS notes yesterday so it should come with the most latest update but I need to wait for another four weeks to get it.
