Hey guys,

I saw 2016 applicants are getting PPRs the past two days, has anyone from 2017 gotten theirs?

I had such a bad experience at the border, when I tried to change my work permit, I used to have the open work permit thru my wife status.
I went to the border to change my work permit once I got the nominee from the OINP, so I brought all the required documents including the LMIA exemption fee receipt and the work permit support letter from the OINP.

However the officer at the border said, I need to bring the job offer letter that has the end date same as the expiration date on my current work permit, because I’m the foreign worker, and the foreign worker can’t have the job offer without the end date. The officer didn’t even want to communicate with me, when I tried to explain.

You can imagine how frustrated I was, but I had to I ask my company to change my job offer letter, and of course my company said NO. What company gives you the job offer that has the end date.

For some reason, I wanted to give it a try, nothing to lose, I got the different officer, that officer didn’t event ask any questions, and got the new closed work permit.

Just wanted to share with you my experience.

Very similar experience my friend. Same thing was for my wife. She tried to have the open work permit just crossing the border through my work permit but the officer said she needed the medicals after we came to Canada as student and several times as visitor...in all these occasions they never asked medicals.

Yes every officer is different. When i went there i had no end date on my offer letter even though my work permit was going to expire after 2 years. Also they gave me new work permit for 2 years without considering the validity of my passport which was due to expire in 12 months.
Work permit cannot be longer than the validity of the passport. I went back and got it changed and now im good to apply for bowp

You canot get open work permit at border, just a closed work permit, to get open work permit you have apply online. Please correct me if i am wrong

Cant wait for my gcms notes to arrive next week, 26th april 2017 applicant still waitin for medical, im gona do upfront medical on 15th this month if i dont get my medical request before that

Got the spouse openneor permit for the wife from border last year. Need my job offer PNP her medical and dollars. It delebde on officer. I tried once at Alberta border but they said no. Then got it at pitch arch BC.

Did someone get two medical requests? I got the first one which was blank on Feb 28 and no IME number but then on March 12 I receive another request with an IME number and barcodes. I had already completed my medical by then on March 08 and the doctors IME is different. I am stressed because I called the clinic they said they have sent the reports to cic on the 19 but I still haven't heard from cic. And I called the clinic for them to resubmit with the new IME and no success very unhelpful. I did upload the documents through web form and try to call the 1888 242 2100 number but couldn't get through to an agent. Anybody else in the same situation?help please.

None yet. Still waiting. I got acknowledgment that the received the medical I submitted to them and have forwarded it to the right department.
