Customer Service/Call Agent usually have reply templates. He/she probably clicked on the wrong template and was like f*** it, there're many other ppl waiting, let them wait together.

I was so tempted to send them a message (even an essay haha), my application will hit 16 months in 3 weeks...but probably I need not. They don't care, never do

Hello All. So finally the CIC website starts working again. Just check my application status, it shows that Background check: We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information, and Final decision: Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made. That means cic is currently working on my background and no final decision yet right. I am april 25 applicant.

Like for real. They are too busy processing files for Exprrss Entry candidates, who haven't paid a dime of tax. And yet me,you and most of members here busted our aaaa's off working in winters&summers to get this nonsense replies. What joke IRCC has become in my mind.
I am still positive after more than 17 months of my life has been gone waiting for this.

I think you are closer to PPR now. My background in progress status lasted less than a week before I got PPR. I'm pretty sure you should get PPR by end of this week or early next week
