Anyone got GCMS notes recently? I sent an email to follow up at ATIP-AIPRP@cic.gc.ca. I had applied on March 16. Have not received yet.
Let me know whenever you get a reply from them. I (website guy) too sent email to them yesterday. I hope that they will respond in couple of days or at least by friday.

Silent Monday :( :( :(

Two immigration lawyers told me it's another 6 months waiting after they request additional documents. Can anyone confirm/deny this from personal experience or reading other threads?

Thanks

Hari, I think you should order new notes. It's really odd that they still haven't seen the the other ones. Now, however, they only take 2 weeks.

Sure buddy. Let me wait for few days. If nothing happens this week then i will order next week.

Guys, i know for sure that requesting GCMS notes delays your case. As much as I'd like to order new ones, I'm going to abstain myself from doing so.

There was an immigration conference here in Vancouver with John McCallum (you'll know who he is if you know anything about immigration). The conference attendees were mostly immigration lawyers receiving instructions and updates on the current load. They've seen an increase in applicants requesting GCMS notes which generates a heavier burden for agents who have to manipulate the entire file (who knows how many times), and eventually creating huge delays for everyone applying.

I recommend staying put. As for my own case, I requested them twice and now regret doing so. My sister who applied for PR under exact same conditions (same sponsor and all) just last year, got her PR in just 10 months because she didn't request anything. Like her, I'm also inland, have been in Canada for 7 years, have Canadian education, Canadian employer (we had the same sponsor) and had traveled to the same countries. I'm now just under 12 months with all assessments passed but still waiting for PPR and DM.

I recommend not requesting the notes over and over unless you absolutely need to (like if you need to confirm if your file is complete, etc). In the conference, they also mentioned they will start charging for these notes as they are generating a bigger burden which not only translates into more delays, but also a bigger governmental cost.

Cheers
Jimmy

Jimmy, I think that many whoever got additional documents have their PPR from April/March. So its not 6 months.
It still might be insider info but we will have to wait and watch on what happens to remaining April and May applicants in the next few weeks.

Till now we dont see a sign of 6 months from the additional documents request but for some it might have been 6 months but would have gotten their ppr within total 12-15 months. So will wait and watch on it in the next coming days to confirm.

I wish it doesnt happen. ;)

Again, like you, I hope my sources are wrong, but they're immigration experts and from what I've seen personally with my case, heard from acquaintances who went through the same process, and reading threads extensively here, I'm more than certain requesting more files from them generates more load on your case, hence delaying it. It's common sense. if you read your GCMS notes carefully, you'll see part of what they do (calling centers, registering every movement of your file, reverifying the system, as well as assurance and compliance with other agents).

I just want this whole process to be over. I've waited since I was 16 and made the decision to move to Canada. Having lived here for 7 years, with Canadian family, Canadian education, and signifcant Canadian experience, just makes me feel a bit more frustrated on how long it's taking. All in all, we have to be mindful they're doing their best, be patient, and be positive.

Week is just starting so let's keep our hope up guys. Good news will come for sure these weeks. Who will be the lucky bunch?

I totally agree, that's why I never ordered a single GCMS notes yet. No offence, but I fail to understand why everyone is in a frenzy of ordering GCMS notes, especially before the 15 months period. I always felt that it increases their burden and might delay our application. Even if it didn't burden them I thought the ECAS alone is enough for us to know what's happening with the application. It makes sense to order GCMS notes only when it's taking unusually long.

If they would make the system a little more transparent and at least update the eclient status properly, I guess applicants would not freak out with stretching timelines. Maybe the system needs a total haul. People have put in their finances, a big chunk of their lives and made sacrifices to make this country their own. They deserve a more efficient immigration system.
