I just called them and asked whether it means we need to do anything. The call center agent was friendly, but wasn't one of the guys who was willing to share much information unfortunately. He did say however, that the letter we all just received is the generic reminder email that gets sent to everyone. If there was something missing then they ask for that specific missing item - for example they would have listed an actual country that they need a police clearance from, rather than just a general message saying to make sure you've included them all.

Regarding the early payment of the RPRF that I had emailed, he asked which email addresses I sent it to and he told me that I'd actually emailed it to all of them! So he said not to worry and that they would have attached the receipt to my file.

I was a bit disappointed that he wasn't willing to take my case number and look at my actual file, so I might call them again in a few days and see if I can get lucky with someone more helpful. In the mean time I would suggest that everyone who got this letter today gives them a call - maybe one of us might get someone willing to divulge something more specific.

I am also inland and i submitted police clearance from rcmp canada and still got this email.....

[quote author=Anshlink=topic=259823.msg4496939#msg4496939 date=1437594648]
Even I have received the email just now. It is actually just a remainder email notifying us to submit if any of the mentioned documents are missing. The passport they mentioned is just a photocopy of our passports. For any details you have to call CIC and ask if the RPRF (if paid upfront) is attached to your file and whether your schedule A and police certificate is present with your application. I called them and confirmed about my documents. They mentioned its just remainder and you can ignore.

*** I am not exactly sure if we have to submit police clearance certificate from Canada (RCMP) or not.***
Can anyone please confirm if we have to submit the Canadian police clearance if we are inland applicants?

The email is a standard email that's appears to be computer generated when the system predicts your file will soon be under review by a case officer based on where you are in the queue. They implemented this generic email with the early oct peeps. In my case, I got this email July 2nd (read exactly like stated above). Then on July 13th, I got another request for documents that was specific and had the initials of my case processing officer. The instructions also said to sent documents to the attention of the specific case processing agent. I reckon you'll get a specific request for documents (if applicable) within the next 7 - 21 days ..meaning your file will soon be in process (under the eyes of a case processing agent)

Oh, I also asked about processing times. The agent stuck to the 16 month standard answer, but I told him some people have been getting progress a lot sooner. He said that's definitely possible, and asked what month I received my AOR (which I told him was late april). He said that this means my application is still "early in the process" and that I should call them back if I haven't heard anything by June 2016!

I guess these answers make sense. The agents aren't authorised to go off script, and if they were to guess and get it wrong then they can get in trouble. The safe answer for the agent is to just say 16 months, even though they know sometimes it's quicker.

All up, this is a good day! We got contact from CIC and can rest easy that our applications have not been forgotten! :p

Ahh, dammit! I knew there was another question I was planning to ask, and I forgot this one!

I'll definitely be calling them again to ask that. I'm still confused as to whether I need to do a Canadian police check at all (I'm pretty sure I don't, but it's all very vague).

"POLICE CERTIFICATES

If you have not already done so, provide scanned copies of Original Police Certificates from each

country and territory where you lived for six or more months in a row since the age of 18, for you and all

family members over 18. If you delay in sending in these police certificates your application will be

delayed."

I've been living here in Canada for more than six months now. Does that mean I need to send a Canadian police certificate? What I only sent in my application is the police certificate from the country where I came from.

I'm curious why you had to send an RCMP clearance at all - I must have read the document checklist a million times before sending my application in, and it definitely didn't ask for any Canadian police documents. Was there special circumstances that meant you had to do this?
