Hey Guys,

I have read in a few other forums that if you are from a visa exempt country (I'm from Australia) you do not have to send your original passport just a copy of it. Does anyone know if this is true? Or is this the new system and becasue we applied over a year ago we follow the old system?

Congrats Romeosaab, I have the same timeline as yours(application submitted on Feb 20, 2012)- Its nice to hear such news.
But at the same time its frustrating since they asked my spouse to re-do medical, the current medical expires this week. I emailed CIC to reconfirm it (as i was told before they will be extending our medical and no action is required), they replied saying the medical validity of my spouse cannot be extended. I believe its because my spouse is outside Canada(never entered Canada), but dint ask me to re-do even though I had gone outside Canada for vacation.

Lets see how long it takes- almost there.

Mazfab,

Any applicant or any family member who is outside of Canada, has to re-do his/her medical when it expires. If you are an in-land applicant, and remaining in Canada they forward your medical extention to health branch in your province.

The doctors have 10 working days to make a decision, if you need to re-do your medical or not. If doctor sees a health problem or if you have gone a country which may cause a health issue then they ask for re-do.

That's the new rule released on (about) March 13, 2013...

Hope this helps!

Holygun, I have a questions, hope you can help:
1) My Spouse came to Canada in April 2013 on open WP, she has submitted her medicals to Delhi VO in Feb 2013, you think she will need to go for her medicals again? or does CIC will accept the medicals submitted to Delhi VO, I have explained this in the coverletter I sent to CIC and also have given photocopy of receipts of medical and email of DELHI VO for a medical request. you think its enough?

I believe she does not need to do it again. Make sure you remind them this situation.
