Hello mates,

I recently applied to 1 year PG program at George Brown College - Toronto, ON, at January 2013, it's a full-time program, and I have 2 years experience in my study field, and now my study visa is being processed, so let's say I got the visa and traveled to Canada.

Now, for getting PR, I was told that the easiest way is to go through PNP,

1. What are my chances to get PNP and then PR?
2. What should I do to apply for PR once I arrive to Canada?
3. Should I apply in Ontario? or any other province? I can go to any other province to apply...

Please reply my question as I am very confused on how to go through this...

Thank you,

there are lots of PNP programs of Ontario which you could fit in.
Please check the link :

nop, your post grad course won't be consider equivalent to MASTERS, have you consider SASKATCHEWAN and New FOUNDLAND as your destination, cause these provinces have the cheapest colleges with good PNP programs.

http://www.saskimmigrationcanada.ca/sinp

http://www.nlpnp.ca/

In whole canada where-ever you do post grad studies, after successful completion of your course you would get a POST GRAD OPEN WORK PERMIT.

Yes,,

I know all of that, but what I mean is, can I apply for PNP after my PG course, because the link you gave me above, says only Master degree graduates can apply for PNP, not PG graduates.

Can you clarify that please?

I am appalled by the amount of misinformation you can get from this board. It is so sad that people provide wrong information that could be fatal to people who's coming to Canada.

One year PG program MAY NOT qualify you as an international student. http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/OI_PNPSTUDENTS_JOBAPPLY.html#_qualify

-Have completed at least half of their studies in Canada, and have graduated or will soon be graduating from an eligible publicly funded Canadian college or university (students must send proof of graduation with their application).

-Have completed a minimum of a two-year diploma or degree program, while studying on a full-time basis. One-year post-graduate degree programs and certificate programs, which require a previous degree or diploma (which may have been obtained abroad), are also eligible.[/list]

1. What are my chances to get PNP and then PR?
Hard but achievable. Your one year PG will only provide you with one year PGWP which means that you're at serious time pressure to find a job at most THREE months after graduation. Here's what your timeline will look like.

3 months after graduation: Found a skilled job in Ontario
4 months after graduation: Your company nominates you
7 months after graduation: Your position is approved! you now nominate yourself to Ontario Immigration
10 months after graduation: Your nomination is approved! you now apply to CIC for Permanent Residence
You will also be able to apply to extend your work permit
12 months after graduation: Your work permit is expired! but you already got your work permit extended and PR application in process (you're safe!!!)

Note that the 10 months mark is critical for you to have your nomination in place and ready to apply for work permit. Notice how critical it is for you to get a job after 3 months of graduation. Any delay in one of those line items above will seriously compromise your PR application (i.e if the company delay your nomination). You have only one shot to get this right.

2. What should I do to apply for PR once I arrive to Canada?
You won't be applying once you arrive in Canada. Again, depending on the requirements - but probably need for you to get a job first. Do you research for other province which I'm not familiar.

3. Should I apply in Ontario? or any other province? I can go to any other province to apply...
I'm not familiar with other provinces

3 months after graduation: Found a skilled job in Ontario
1- You mean skilled job that are under NOC levels? or it should be related to the program that I studied? or any job?
2- in this link, saskimmigrationcanada.ca/student, it says that I can have a job that's not related to my study, and if I am in Ontario, could it be so easily to move to Saskatchewan to apply for PNP?

1. Yes. it does not have to relate to your field of study. Skilled job: NOC 0,A OR B

2. Moving is relatively easy aside from the usual hassles of packing and finding a place. They key is: since you only have 1 year PGWP you need plan your move in advance. A lot of people make the mistake of moving while waiting for a job (applying for a job in SK while sitting around in ON)... this makes finding a job a lot harder since employers are reluctant to arrange transportation for interview and fund your relocation (many companies have those policies but rather not to unless pressed).

Planning is of the essence if you are set on moving from ON to SK (i.e find a place in advance, arrange enough funds to help you settle, know where to live, etc).

Great,

But you mentioned that it could be any job that is not necessarily to be related to my studies, and then NOC 0, A, or B,
if I got a job other than these levels, can I apply for PR?

Because in this link, saskimmigrationcanada.ca/student -> Eligibility -> Post-Graduation Work Permit Stream: it doesn't say that the job should be under those levels, any full-time job would be fine

Seems to me SK can be any full time, permanent job - does not have to be skilled. This would mean that the job needs to come with benefit as well (health benefit, insurance benefit, etc)

But just to be sure, you should shoot them an email confirming.
