Uhm, I think you don't get it guys.

Let me explain it further.

Yes I am a computer engineering graduate. But I didn't pursue the career path it should have taken me. Instead, I am running an internet cafe/computer shop and a sound system rental business. At the same time, I am the acting SOUND TECHNICIAN of my sound system rental business. Anyone can become a sound technician through experience, especially when you have a passion for music or through studying. Most of the sound technicians in my country earn that title through experience only. But if you complete a sound engineering program, you will become a SOUND ENGINEER, which is superior than a sound technician obviously.

I think the VO was convinced about my study plan. If it was the other way around, the VO should have stated in the refusal letter that my proposed studies are not reasonable in light of one or more of: my qualification, previous studies, employment, level of establishment, other educational opportunities available in the Philippines or Canada, language abilities, or my future prospects and plans.
No.. you miss something. The music program is not combined with engineering course..... You should find a better course as a PG diploma or master degree. Not a diploma. Diploma is for high students who just finished their school...

had u added gic certificate or bank loan with ur application?
No. I think only Indian students have the option to apply for GIC certificates. I just showed the receipt of the 1st tuition that's already been paid which is 8,100 CAD, and bank certificate and statements of 47,000.00 CAD. So basically, I have 55,000 CAD funds in all.

My bank certificates show that my accounts have been in the bank for more than 10 years already. I showed bank statements for the past 4 months.

CIC doesnt know your skills at all. If you are a sound engineer, you should apply a master degree or pg diploma. Diplma is for high school students.. not graduate students. So, my advise is that look for other college or university level. I am not sure where you are from exactly. If you have some English education background, they will ask higher education level for you. A common example is indian. Many student got a rejection due to mismatch course, low English skills( sometimes, no less 6.5 for master degree). Just try.. Good luck.

Thank you. But like I just told you, I am still a sound technician, NOT yet a sound engineer. I wanted to study sound engineering (which is a course in Music Industry Arts program) so I could upgrade my skills as a sound technician and become a sound engineer.

So the issue here is not the program that I choose. The issues are only travel history, employment prospects in country of residence, and personal assets and financial status.

I hope someone with the same situation as me could share how they cope up with these reasons and had their application approved the second time they applied. :(

The only main reason I see fr ur refusal is not showing them u will leave the country after course completion (I believe this is stated in ur refusal letter). Doing Masters is an option, but that always depends on the students' preferences and the basic knowledge level they have in their field of study.

If i am ur officer,I would think ur self employed and ur making good money at ur business, which proves that ur good at wht ur doing and u can do tht anywhere, so there is no reason fr u to go back home. Maybe he wnts to take a study permit as route to enter the country and start his business here. So, I would suggest u to show good job perspectives back home with strong family ties in ur country (u can easily show jobs posting and increase in ur pay scale,as a result of completing this course, through ads tht might be available online).

Ur correct abt Scotiabank GIC. Its only fr Indians. Why dont u try bonds and other long term investment options in ur country as proof of funds fr ur education? This will prove u have reserved funds that will support ur stay. Did u pay ur frst sem fees with the college, that's another CIC requirement?

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I have 2 businesses. My proposed study is related to one of my businesses. I couldn't possibly bring my business anywhere. I would be carrying tons of equipment! You see, my sound system business involves huge speakers, lights, trusses and band equipment like drum sets, guitar amplifiers that are used for concerts! How would I carry them and bring them with me to Canada? :p

Yes, I have already paid the first semester tuition fee.

I would love to but it is illegal. I am not allowed to do that on a study permit so I have no plans in doing that.

I see tht u have shown 55000CAD. This proves the fact tht u have made this money some how and ur successful back home. What will be the reason fr u to abandon ur successful business and come to Canada to study? U can say passion and interest, but tht needs to proven on papers some how for CIC (this is dumb, but thts their requirement).

Think outside the box,the person who is dealing with ur immigration papers r not always very bright. Some fact might be very obvious fr u,but it should also be reflected in the same manner to the immigration officer.

On one side they say we need clever minds to immigrate to Canada and attain their PR, they also refer to PGWP as route to PR but on the other end they wnt u to prove tht u will exit the country after ur permit expires.

In my opinion expecting a student to return back home is a stupid expectation as a student main intension is to study, get a job and settle in Canada, they are very well aware of this and they also encourage it but they always prefer the opposite on papers

Sorry to correct u buddy, but its not illegal. First of all u can wrk in Canada with an off-campus work permit (Nowadays given immediately to students). This will be offered to u until the valid period of study. U can wrk weekly 20hrs during ur regular school days and weekly 40hrs during scheduled breaks

Hi floje ..

As you said your course is rellevant to your studies in your point of view . But , did you attached a SOP which explains how it is rellevant . As u can see , everyone pointed out that mistake because you didnot mentioned it . Then , how you expect VO to give you visa without explaining .

SOP isnt a mandiatory but if there is something that you have to explain like in your case . Then you should must attach it . It can help you next time.

Best of luck

Hello th3.rdx! Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I have attached SOP and explained the relevance of my proposed studies to my business. I have convinced the VO about that. If I hadn't, the VO should have indicated in the refusal letter that my proposed studies are not reasonable in light of one or more of: my qualification, previous studies, employment, level of establishment, other educational opportunities available in the Philippines or Canada, language abilities, or my future prospects and plans. But he did NOT.

So the refusal was not about my proposed studies.

The refusal was about my travel history, employment prospects in country of residence, personal assets and financial status.

It seems like , its your 2nd time for a canadian visa .

1. Did you mentioned about your US refusal , why it happened . ( Travel history )

2. Did you attached your Business registration or bussiness account statment or current account ststment .. to show its an authentic and real business and you are really self emmployed . ( emplyment ).

3.As you have already shown 55000 cad . Did u attached anything for proof of payment ike ITRs or business related statment or stuff ( fiancial )

If no , collect these things and apply for a CAIPS to know exactly the reason and apply again .

Its never too late
