Dear all,

My fiancé (Canadian) and I (Israeli) gonna get marry soon in Canada (there’s already a date and a place and an authorized person to marry us). The only concern we have is the produce of a marriage license (in city hall Toronto) we need to get before the wedding itself due to contradicts in iformation we got:

When we called the city hall to ask them what documents I will need to bring with they said 2 pieces of IDs - so i will bring with my Israeli passport and my birth certificate (sadly my driver license will expire by then and I probably won’t get it on time before my flight). And then it got somehow complicated-

The service in the city hall mentioned that I need only a certified translation of my birth certificate. But in contradict to that a Notary service in Israel said I will need a Notary stamp on the translation + signature authentication of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Israeli on the original document and then another authentication of a signature from the Canadian embassy both on the original birth certificate.
We just want to get married, I don’t want to immigrate to Canada.. it’s only for the wedding because of the family.
Does anyone know what kind of signature or authentication or if I at all need all of this? Is there a way to get all the authentication in Canada and not in Israel (I fly to Canada in 14 days)..Or is a certified translation from ATIO enough and I don’t need all the other authentications (and just thinking to much)?

I know I bombed with questions :) but I’m a bride to be and right now I have 100% bride pre-wedding stress, only because of the fear that something would get wrong with this certification/authorization and then we won’t be able to get marry on the date we plan to.

I would love to get some help,
Thank you and regards
Ori

Hi! Thanks for the quick reply :)
Do you have any recommendations for what kind of legal and certified translation he used?
Did he get a Notary certication after the certified translation?

What you need is an apostile stamp from your Ministry of Foreign Affairs in your country. If the document “ birth certificate” or whatever document was issued in your country or any, the apostile stamp can only be given through that country. I needed my documents to have an apostile stamp from the country that issued me the required documents. Hope this helps
