Today is my 8th week of waiting for the FBI clearance, my application has been 'In Process' since Dec28 and I really feel that this is the only item holding up my visa issuance. :'(

Please please pray for me, I wish I would receive the clearance this week... :'(

Dear ,

I got my pcc yday .the thing is that they have encashed my dd on 30 jan and 2 feb they had posted thru USPS.I think it reached here after 10-12day,the address which i had mentioned is my office number and somebody kept this cover in a cupboard..

I has send several mails /calls to fbi and they are saying that mail forwarded on 2 feb .Thn
i checked all cupboards in my office .I got it yday with God's grace .

im unable to calculate the weeks that took for FBI /

Can I ask (I apologize in advance if it's a stupid question as I'm new to this)- of those that are in the US, has anyone used an FBI channeler for their pcc? In my experience, including mail time both ways, I received my background check within one week. Has anyone else used an FBI channeler?

Got my FBI clearance today, submitted my request December 27, so it took 10 weeks... took too long, but worth the wait. ;D

Received by the FBI on the 19th of March

Payment cleared my bank on the 4th of April

Now lets see how quick it reaches me ;D

We sent our FBI from Ottawa by regular mail, did not include a return self addressed stamped envelope on March 6. We received it the other week. Total time was 5.5 weeks.

I just had my prints done today. The FBI website doesn't say anything about sending postage or self-addressed envelope. You said you didn't include it and it still made it back to you?
What is this"request it back" that people are mentioning? I was under the impression you send out the FBI application form, prints, and $, and it makes it back to you. Am I right?

Thanks guys! This is my first step and I am already like *yikes*!

"request it back" - Not sure which post(s) is/are you referring to so am unable to comment.

The process is just as what you expect... After FBI received your fingerprints & forms, etc, they will cash your money order/check/credit card, and perform their search. Once they have done the search, they will send the certificate to the address you provided on the form. Self-addressed evelope is not required.

I am hoping over the next few months that the timelines will speed up.
To date, the applications are taking approximately 13 weeks to complete from date received by FBI.

Please post the following:
-When you mailed your request
-When it was received by FBI
-When you requested to have it back
-When you received your request back

I think this thread will help to show people over time if the timelines are increasing or decreasing. It will also give them an estimated time on when to expect some news back.

My time is as follows:
-Mailed request March 9, 2010 from Canada by registered mail to WV
-Request was received on March 19, 2010 in West Virginia
-Requested to have it back by April 19, 2010 (will more than likely take much longer)
-Date unknown as to when I will receive it back

The "requested to have it back"- this was the first post on the thread.

Thanks for the feedback; I can tell this will be a long process!

Got you! In the past, FBI supported expedited service that you can provide date that you need the cert by and a valid reason. Now they don't do it anymore.

You're welcome and wish you a smooth process!

You got "hero" status for a reason! Makes more sense now, thanks.

Congrats on your "passport re'q"! Sent my FBI request off today... first step! This forum is like a goldmine...

Thanks Bright_skies.
Agree with your goldmine comment... I was able to find out something from here that I was not aware of before and acted proactively. Appreciate the help from other forum members!
Good luck, and come back and share the timeline after receiving the FBI cert!

Can't believe I just received my FBI report. It only took 3.5 weeks!!!Oh Yeah!!!

Yay! Lucky you! I hope we're that lucky -- my husband is sending his off tomorrow and we really hope it doesn't take 10-13 weeks. :( Did you request to have it expedited?
