We have applied to get our file no 1 month ago but still no news and we have only a reciept from post -courior . How can we follow up our case just to make sure it is under the process. i mean nova scocia visa officein canada has no contact details such as tel no or email address . there must be a way. how we can follow up?

nope.. no direct follow-up numbers.

follow-up your bank to know the date your DD is encashed. Add 4 weeks (atleast; that too as of applications running today) to that date. you can expect additional 1 or 2 weeks delay!!

Thank you for your quik reply. it is exactly 35 days from the date they have recieved. Once i read in this site a person gave a contact no that only can be used from canada do u hv that no?

Man 35 days are too early to get response from the CIO nowadays, it took me 71 days to get the letter via email from the date which they have recieved my application.

It takes up to 10 weeks from the date they start processing your application and not the date of reciept, they recieved mine on june, 8 and started processing on june, 29 and sent me the letter on august,19.


The number is used in canada only :

If you want a number to inquire from outside canada :


Try to call this number : (613) 944-4000 , it is for (Enquiries Service ) for people outside canada and they might help you to get any information about your application whether the CIO has sent you a letter and it got lost by mail or not.

If you wish to receive documents by mail, do not forget to include your full postal address.

However, i don't advice you to do so because your time line with the CIO is still very normal,
just do it if the period of waiting time reaches close to 90 days.

Why do we expect CIO to speed up? Since there are always a load of people applying and since they will all be evaluated under the fast-track rule, should we not expect CIO to slow down in the long run? Many of those who applied before the 38 categories were published are still waiting and waiting. Their queue is hardly being cleared up because there will always be new people applying. I am sure the rate at which people are applying is far greater than the rate at which CIO is capable of even saying "no" to the applicants. People will never stop applying. So, naturally new applications are always getting queued up. No?

Thank u very much for ur useful information. I am just worried to make sure if thay have received it. as we are living in Iran we sent the money to one of our freinds in Vancouver he made a money order and sent by canada courier the reciept shows thay have recived it on 20 th jul .

U think the documents are there now? i am trying not to be negative but one of my freind's documents had been lost and we dont know how it has been lost???/

Do you mean that you have sent the application forms separately from the money order ?
