so? you still are waiting for refugee status. it can look to immigration that you married her in case that application was rejected, so you can get approved as a pr through her. still a red flag.

How long did you date her before marriage? I think on second thought, maybe that lawyer wasn't giving bad advice at all, in light of the news that your wife was on welfare before and you're not making a lot of money yourself.

um, that is certainly NOT going to help your case. if an immigration officer hears that, they will for sure assume you are only getting married to remain in canada and get your status. also the fact that you married only after 4 months, and her family doesn't approve? that is one red flag after another.

of course we are not immigration officers, so we can't say for sure what will happen with your application. just know that your case seems to have EVERY red flag CIC is concerned about, so you will have to be able to show strong proof your relationship is real and ongoing, and not just so you can keep status in canada, and it needs to be more than just having a wedding with 75 guests.

good luck!

You need to take your time, get to know each other and maybe get to know her family. Let her get herself financially on her feet. Unless you have really amazing relationship proof to show that your relationship is genuine, then applying now could be a big mistake.

And this is what they are worried about, you marrying her because you're worried at you're refugee claim will be denied. I don't think there is much you will be able to do now than wait out your refugee claim and hope for the best. If it is a failed refugee claim, maybe if you guys take some time with your relationship, and through long distance for a few months continue your marriage and can then show it is genuine, you will be able to then apply for spousal sponsorship.

There is a language barrier which makes it challenging to understand/be understood. I'm not sure an 8-year age difference is necessarily a red flag when the woman is younger. Plus, we don't know her culture and whether such age differences are normal there. Visa officers have to process applications keeping such cultural norms in mind.

I don't think all is lost but first things first:
1. they need a letter from the welfare office attesting the wife is no longer collecting benefits.
2. using an experienced immigration lawyer would be a good idea(if it's affordable)...perhaps a lawyer who also speaks his native language would be best.

I think he was trying to say that had he been looking for the easy way out, he would be with someone who is working(and can contribute financially), but he is taking on this huge responsibility by being the sole provider. So for him, this demonstrate his love/genuine intentions. At least that's what I got from it.

There is defiantly things wrong with this guys attempt to get PR.

1) Knowing the girl for only 4 months (you would have to show proof of that some how...aka phone bills with texts/calls to her...letters/skype calls...emails.)

2) The sponcer cannot really have welfare assistance any time close to when you are applying unless she has really turned around financially, got a great job and has savings. (We are applying now and my hubby has a great job and money in the bank...and its still sketchy)

...you need to get your ducks in a row and prove a real relationship is going on.

You have red flags with being refuge status...and finding a girl real quick and having a quick wedding (prolly with only her family attending?) will NOT look good at all.
