So they took your passport and won't give it back?

Yes they took and they will not give it back untill it will expire. But the expiration date of the passport is august 2016 and I cant wait that long. I need the copies in the next couple months.

Not sure I follow you. Doesn't quite add up...

Seems the OP may be a convention refugee/ protected person and applied for a Canadian Travel Document (CTD) which is a passport type booklet. This requires applicant to give to Passport Canada their national passport for retention in exchange for the Travel Document. OP needs his national passport as part of the bio page requirements for citizenship application if it covers any part of the 4 year qualifying period.

Passport Canada will not give you the passport back unless you return the CTD. Not sure when PR processing was completed but CIC should have copies of all pages of your national passport. Did you submit it as part of the ID process for your claim?

They need English :)

If you are a refugee, I recommend contacting your local settlement organization. They may be able to advise and help you.

I contact my local settlement organization and they told me that i have to contact Passport Canada and ask them for copies of my original passport.

Your options are:

1. Request Passport Canada for copies of your national passport.

2. Request CIC for copies of your passport if you submitted it as part of your asylum/refugee/pp case.

Both via the ATIP process as detailed on their respective websites. You need to make the ATIP request clear that you are applying for photocopies of all pages of your x country passport number y issued date z etc. They may charge you for this.

In 1 above Passport Canada may require you to return your CTD, mail you the national passport, you copy it and return it. Why did you apply for a CTD? What date (month/year) were you landed?
