My husband has a DUI from 2007 and in 2012 I applied for him for a Temporary Resident Permit. It seems to be called Temporary Resident Visa now? Is that right? Because they want different things this time. I have tried to call, e-mail, etc. and have not found anyone to talk to. Then I found this forum hoping someone with knowledge can help? The websites are too confusing for my addled brain.
I was trying to find another document checklist for what I'm pulling together only to find two versions dated 12-2013. One for Visa and one for Permit. They want different things...the Visa one says to send the passport. The Permit one says to send a photocopy of the passport.
So I guess my question is I need to know first am I applying for a Temporary Resident Visa or Permit? It was a permit back in 2012 but looking through the various sites, I thought it looked like it's now called just a Visa. But I'm unsure. Can anyone help me make sense of this? He is not physically staying in Canada, but needs the work visa/permit to fly into and out of Canada. I realize I could have "renewed" it before it expired, but I did not know that at the time and didn't do it in time which I'm kicking myself for. I find all this immigration paperwork confusing. I just don't want to physically mail out his passport and find out we weren't supposed to and we can't get it back.
Thank you!!!
