Please Help : Police Clearance from US and India

Hi,

I just submitted my online application and was reading the online instructions for the application. I have questions regarding the Police Clearance Certificates.

I am an Indian citizen but have been living in the US for 2 years and working here. I understand that I will need to get the PCC from the Indian Consulate in SFO as well as the FBI.

Looking at other threads here, it seems like the Indian Consulate gets the PCC in 30 days approx. and the FBI takes 90-100 days approx. I submitted my online Express Entry profile (473 points) today, October 1, 2017, but I am now confused should I apply for the PCC from the FBI or wait for it. If I get my PCC from the FBI in 3 months but the ITA takes 6 months, then I will have to get a new PCC as I read on the forums that the validity of the PCC is only 3 months from the issuing date.

Kindly assist me in figuring this out. Thankyou!

PCC from the country where you reside in is valid for 6 months ! So you’re good to go.

Apply for the PCC’s ASAP as you stand a greater chance of receiving the much-coveted ITA in the upcoming draw(s).

I can't speak to the Indian PCC, but you need to apply for the FBI US PCC ASAP (as in like tomorrow if you can). You're highly likely to get an ITA in the next draw based on your CRS Score (the current opinion is that there may be a draw this coming Wednesday, on October 4) and the FBI PCC takes 3 months to get (possibly longer now, because the FBI has just put the process on hold while they implement a new system). It's therefore unlikely that you will have the FBI US PCC before you have to submit your eAPR (as you only get 90 days to do so from the point of getting an ITA).

Apply for the FBI PCC now, but be prepared to wait until the very last day to submit your eAPR, and to possibly have to submit your eAPR without the FBI PCC (you'll need to include a letter of explanation (LOE) explaining why you can't upload it yet, along with proof that you have actually applied for it (copies of the payment receipts, a copy of the application, print outs of the FedEx/UPS delivery notification, and the credit card charge, etc.)

Thank for your replies. I will be sending in the FBI request tomorrow first thing in the morning. I hope the new system they implement will speed up the process a bit.

FBI and Indian PCC's are issued with their standard format respectively..

Can I fill the Indian PCC form for the San Francisco consulate on the computer using Adobe PDF or does it have to be filled by hand?

dosent matter.. only check whether signature is required or not..
