please help! people who have been processed through Mexico

Hi there,

I got a letter from IRCC requesting my passport, I am being processed through Mexico as an outland applicant. I am currently in Canada visiting my husband and have my return ticket for September. The letter said I need to send my passport to my VAC which is in my country. Do you know if I can send my passport in within Canada? or I need to return to my country to do all of this?

Hello and first of all, congratulations!! That's wonderful news. You can submit your passport from within Canada, that's no problem. FELICIDADES!!!

Also, in case you haven't already, can I ask (and we, on behalf of all people waiting on applications through Mexico City VO), can you add your application date and progress dates on the Spreadsheet? Or if you already have your case there, can you please update your dates? It will be so helpful to give us all a frame of reference

Check your PPR email. It should say something like:

4) Submitting your passport(s) in Canada (CPC-O) If you have a mailing address in Canada and if you and all the accompanying dependents on your application are currently in Canada and plan to be in Canada for at least three months, you may submit your passport(s) to the Case Processing Centre – Ottawa. You are required to send your document(s) together along with a copy of this letter by mail or courier to the following address with the additional following document: · A self-addressed, pre-paid Xpresspost envelope from Canada Post. Purchase your prepaid letter-sized (32 x 24 cm) Canada Post Xpresspost envelope (Regional if you live in Ontario or Quebec; National for other provinces and territories), at any Canada Post retail outlet.

You can submit it in Canada following the instructions in the letter. We did for my spouse on TRV here (indian passport) and got the PR Visa +COPR from CPC - Ottawa, no issues.

did you have to change her address before submitting the passport? I am being told I have to let Mexico VO know that I am moving forward with Ottawa instead of them. I will appreciate your response as I do not want to do anything wrong that can affect my application or delay it.

Always let them know of any change, yes. And thank you for updating the spreadsheet as it's a helpful reference for the rest of us waiting.

My husband is in Nicaragua and I'm sure you've heard of the situation there the last few months. Hopefully we will hear soon!

Yes. We replied back on that email and cc-ed CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca email and informed them we are submitting it to Ottawa and the tracking number for the package sent to CPC-O and the expected delivery date.

Mind you, I informed my VO (New Delhi) about spouse's visit and address in Canada but they didn't update it in ECAS online.

CPC - Ottawa replied to us couple of days later that they received it and processing it. Then when the application status is approved in GC Key, they emailed us that the passport was sent back in the return envelope we sent it to them.

This will work for you. Just ensure you put the Passport request - UCI Number - App number in subject line.
