Thanks divya but i am from Pakistan some flights go but krom Karachi which is 2 hrs by plane.Would be expensive and risky to catch the next flight. I hope i find pia which is direct to toronto on 27th or 3rd.Everywhere its fully booked but having still a little hope for that

It is like a cheaper one that I could find...Air China. Transit time is 34.5 hrs. Pretty OK...on 5th Sep. Travel would be via Beijing. To me , its a good option

It's from Lahore to Vancouver transiting via Abu Dhabi n Amsterdam. guess it should be fine Cost is just 64k.

ah u should avoid those flights....try using priceline.com and search for more dates and options i am sure u will find a good flight

Mead- I have tried priceline.com earlier and most of the airlines there fly through US else not they are quite on the pricey side

Getting to Vancouver is much smarter than Toronto. From Vancouver you can take another flight (about half an hour if that) or you can take transit from Vancouver airport to Tsawwassen ferry terminal (about 45-60 mins) then the ferry to Schwartz Bay (1 1/2 hrs) and You can book a coach to take you directly from the ferry to downtown Victoria (35 mins, less to UVic) or you can get a cab from the ferry to where you are staying. The cab would be best option as you will be tired. The Victoria airport and ferry terminal are both similar distances outside Victoria so you are going to have to make transportation arrangements either way. Ferry costs about $15 (plus transit) and a flight would be less than $150, but would take less time as you can take connecting flight from YVR.

I worked in a couple of colleges for several years as a teacher -- in my experience, students who come to class ten days late, fail. This is even more true for foreign students. Your university did not say be there on September 16th -- they said September 16th is the LAST POSSIBLE day to get there, and the only reason they said that is because a college has to have a last possible day. The students who pass are there on the first day. Since you are already spending a large amount of money to go to school abroad, you need to spend more and get there on time.

Even the people who said that missing the first day is OK are wrong; the first day is extremely important, it orients the student in the course, prepares them for what they have to do, and sets the tone for the semester. Not showing up on Day One is a poor idea.

I know how important are the first days of university are,but im unable to find any flight.Most of them goes from US which for us need a visa and i dnt have a US visa.I can spend more money but the problem is the flights.

I totally understand -- going through U.S. customs is no joke for anyone, I'm an American with a foreign wife and I hate it. If she was Pakistani I would never go through an American airport. If you can't fly from Lahore to Dubai to Vancouver, fly Lahore to Frankfurt to Vancouver, or Lahore to Heathrow to Vancouver, or something like that. Buy two tickets. I just refuse to believe that it is impossible to get to Vancouver before Sept. 14th.

Maybe you have not travelled much, but this idea that you can only get to Vancouver on September 14th is strange. Now, maybe there are other issues I'm unaware of -- I don't know how they will treat you in Germany if you have to transit with a one-way ticket, etc. etc.

Also, I hope you don't think I'm rude -- I'm just writing because I know how tricky it can be, studying abroad, and hate to see you sabotaging yourself right at the beginning. I can't emphasize enough how, in my experience, students who show up ten days late simply do not succeed at any level. If you have to do this, I hope that you're the exception.
