My husband wants to try to apply for a visitors visa to Canada. May someone please explain to me how can we go about this? Do I have to fill out an application or does my husband have to fill one out? Where can we get the application? Where do we submit it? How much does it cost? I am not familiar at all with the application process of a vistors visa. I would really appreciate it if anyone can guide me on how we can go about this, please.

Thank you so much!

I see that your visa office is London. If he is from the UK he doesn't have to have a visitor's visa. He can stay in Canada for 6 months as long as he satisfies the IO that he will return if he has to. If he's from another country and I'm mistaken, my apologies. I don't know much about visitor's visas but someone will give you the answer!

My husband has permanent residency in Sweden, he is not a citizen yet and therefore he does not hold a Swedish passport. He still holds his Iraqi passport and we want to try to apply for a visitors visa but we don't know anything about this process -- where to get the application, who has to fill it out, where to submit it, how much it costs, etc.

Go to www.cic.gc.ca, click on Visiting Canada and download the forms. He would then take them to the Canadian High Commission in London. There is a drop box there, but it is best to do it in person. He will then wait in the queue and have an interview and they will generally tell him that day whether or not he is approved.

It is VERY difficult for someone of your husband's citizenship who is married to a Canadian to obtain a TRV. He would need to show significant ties to the UK...property owned, job to return to. He would need to show proof of funds for his trip. You will need to write him a letter of invitation.

Good luck!

Sorry, he wouldn't be going to London then, obviously he'd be going to the CHC in Sweden.

I don't know for sure, but I think it is between $75 and $150 to apply.

You will find all the info you need on the cic.gc.ca website under visiting canada.

1. There is no CHC office in Sweden, the OP's spouse mails/couriers his application to London.
2. The fee is $75 for a single entry visa.
3. It is unlikely that he will be issued a TRV with a spouse in Canada, as London will surmise that his trip is not temporary.

I have also heard that applying for a TRV will cause your PR application to be delayed? Is this true? That the time taken to pull your PR app while looking at it will get it out of the queue?

If that is true, and your husband really has next to no chance of getting this TRV, is it worth the risk? They are working on his background, correct? I am hoping it does not take too much longer for you.

I can't tell you for sure, an expert will be able to, but a lot of people on these boards apply for TRVs... some are even approved. I think if it delayed your process people wouldn't do it so often, but I could be totally wrong!

They are two different applications and when they see he has put that he is married to a canadian and that is the purpose of his visit he will be denied, even if he has property in sweeden,or money,or what ever else, all that can be sold once hes here so in this case the chances are below 5% he will get one.
But if you got 75$ to throw away then apply and hope for the best.

The chances of getting a TRV is next to ZERO since you already have an application for PR in progress. If i were u i would tell him to be extra patient otherwise everything could be jeopardised. You don't want that do you?

Have some hope. It is possible to get a TRV. My wife did. Please read below.

Your husband will need to apply, ideally in person, with a prepared application and documentation. Be honest. Show sufficient money, a ticket home, a strong reason to return home. When I wrote my letter of invitation for my wife, I clearly indicated that the sponsorship application was about to be submitted. I also made it clear that I understood the rules and wanted to keep my wife in good status so that her permanent resident application would not be damaged or delay.

TRV info at the website below.

Good luck!
