I am planning to apply under skilled worker category for Canadian Immigration but I need to know something about my education and profession background. I passed my bachelor degree (3 years in Computer science) in April’ 2004 and currently enrolled in Master program but not completed yet, so my total education years excluding master degree becomes 15 years, as well working in a reputable firm as an Officer Human Resource from Feb’ 2003 to till date.

My queries are that, how many points will I get in my education factors and as you can see that my education background is not relevant with my current occupation so CIC will award me points for my work experience ? and how many points I can get in work experience factor?

I will be very thankful to you for your prompt action in this regard.

This website has a self-assessment, you should try it-it is pretty accurate in giving you the number of points. They separate work from school. You will receive certain points for education, and certain points for work experience.

On education I think you are likely to get 22 or 20 marks as its 'You have a three-year diploma, trade certificate or apprenticeship and at least 15 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study. 22 points
You have a university degree of two years or more at the bachelor’s level and at least 14 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study. 20'

On experience if your job falls under 'NOC' you are likely to have points on it depending on the full time hours you were on paid job or unpaid.

It doesn't matter if your degree is in the same area as your occupation. I had a degree in Business and 4 yrs experience in IT. No problem.

You'll get 20 pts for completing your bachelor's degree. You won't get anything for the Masters as you haven't completed it yet.

You should get credit for 4 yrs of experience (21 pts), since you worked from Feb '03 to Feb '07 as an HR Officer.
