Dear all,

anyone can advice about my situation.

Today ( after 39 months of waiting) i wrote my Citizenship Exam - Calgary side,

the officer asked me about 2 pieces of ID i gave her PR and AB identification Card, the address in AB card i didn't mention in the citizenship application ( its my friend address i lived with him 2 days only until i found my Owen place)

the officer write down a note about that in my file and gave me the answer sheet and went to the test room.

i passed with score 20,

now i have 2 Questions.

do you guys think the note that the officer put in my file will affect the rest of the procedures to receive the Oath letter ?

my PR is expired and at work they want me to travel to US office in a business trip, what should i do ?

Thanks for you all

Adam

1 It may. You may receive an RQ instead of the oath letter. There is a report about someone's wife in this forum with the same situation. The address on her ID didn't match the one on file. I don't recall what happened exactly maybe they can elaborate on their case if they see this post.
2- Regarding you traveling to US with an expired PR card. It's a risk you can take but I heard you can cross the border with an expired card just don't fly back to Canada.
Now there is nothing you can do about this situation. JUST WAIT and check periodically your mail box and ecase.
Good luck

If you lived with your friend for 2 days only, how(or why) did you get a AB ID card issued to his address? ??? Alternatively, you could have written the address on the card on your application and included a cover letter saying you were there for 2 days.

It may very well lead to RQ.

Regarding travel to the US, you can not enter Canada using an expired PR card if you are travelling in a commercial carrier (plane, bus, boat, etc). If you have a US visa, you can travel by plane to the US. To return however, you would need to drive in a private/rental car across the border, make sure you have your original COPR (confirmation of permanent residence) with you and your passport, ofcourse.

1. Potential RQ trigger.
2. Stay in Canada unless you can drive back from the US. You won't get back in on the plane with your expired PR card.

Did you mention this "2 days address" anywhere in RQ reply?

Pardon my ignorance, since I have no idea what the RQ is and it was never a requirement when I became a citizen years ago. But my wife is in the process so can someone please elaborate on it for me what an RQ actually is? With little research I have done I understand it is a residence questionnaire, but why is it a big deal? In what cases do they send you to fill one out? Does it delay the process by a lot? Sorry once again. Hope to see a reply that makes sense.

Just to add another note, our house is being built and will not be ready until next year. So next year our address will change. Would that effect her application? She will let them know of change of address but anything else she needs to do other than that?

Your Id is issued to an address where you obviously liver for a certain period but you didn't mention it when you applied or responded to RQ. This is what we call lying or giving misleading information to CIC. Now what are the consequences. I don't know, but anybody can guess...

RQ = residency questionnaire as your figured. The main reason it's a "big deal" is because the application becomes 'non-routine' which can delay the process quite a bit. As you can see, the OP had received a RQ which took 39 months to process, so the possibility of another RQ is worrisome. There is a list somewhere on the forum, search "RQ risk factors" to see examples of triggers.

A few I can recall are: unemployment with travel, identifying as a consultant/self-employed, IDs issued within 3 months of the application, use of suspect address, etc.

i don't understand why the CIC will send me another RQ,
they asked me about the address i lived in from 2007 to 2011 ( the date i applied for the citizenship).
the address where i lived with my friend for 2 days was after 2012 and the current address i moved in mid of 2013, i dont understand why the officer mentioned that in the notes about me before the exam
and why you guys thinking they will send another RQ,

Something sounds odd here...if you were only at your friend's place for 2 days, how did you manage to get an acceptable "Proof of Address" Id document in order to get the AB ID card in the first place?

i went to the bank and asked to change address to my friend that i was planning to set with until finding new place, then i took print out of my bank account statement and went to the registry to get a proof that i'm resident of Alberta to be able to set for an CGA exam, they give me the document and sent the card later after 2 weeks, i lept this card as an ID + the PR since i dont drive

i dont see where is the problem? and this happened after i completed the 3 years they want in the RQ.

they asked me for addresses i lived in from Sep 2007 to Sept 2011

and this happened in 2012. why i should be accountable for that ?
