Hi,
PR since June 2010.
Wife and kids continuously living and completing 3yrs requirement attending schools.
I am a doctor and its a long tedious road to getting into the job market. Will have to complete 4-5 exams. May take longer than 4 years.
For the next four years I have made this plan to legally complete the 1095 days while working towards completing my exams:-
Staying 1 month in Canada, while going out to my private practice in Middle east for 10 days every month. Repeating this cycle I will clock 275 days each year in Canada, which will add up to x4=1100 days, and 90 days a year outside.
I will keep clear track of entry exit stamps in passports, tickets, boarding cards, and the rest.
I will renew the PR card before it expires while using this same formula and when the 730 days are completed. I have already clocked 200 days in Canada so far.
My question: Will they question me even if I have honestly done all of the above and my PR status is in order. In the current mood of PR and existing cheating citizens being brought to justice will they still delay granting me citizenship, since I would have shown travelling to middle east in and out 9 times a year!! for 4 years continuously? Will they still question the proofs I give them of my travels in and out or my intentions to become Canadian?
Sorry for the long question. Will highly appreciate a reply.

Definitely keep all your tickets and boarding cards so you can prove your trips. They are supposed to be starting exit checks so that will help you if they can verify in their system in the future when you left as well as when you arrived. Sometimes PR renewals can be delayed or go to residency questionnaire if you have a lot of stamps. When you go pick up your PR card after renewal, make sure you have a detailed log of your travels matching your stamps.

Thank you Leon for the prompt reply,

What about the fact that at that time I will be unemployed in Canada and will have an active Dubai residence/work visa in my passport? Clearly meaning I am still working there even though I fill tax forms each year. But I have to feed and support my family and 5 kids. By the way out of 5 my first two children are Canadian citizens by birth.

Is it true that for now whenever I arrive into Canada they make an arrival record in their computers which I can retrieve later? Because sometimes Dubai does not stamp exit on the passport.

Again appreciate your time.

In a nutshell my question really is can they still refuse me citizenship after the RQ etc, if its all documented and true record.

I do not see how they can refuse you citizenship if you have all of this documented. Do not count on Canadian immigration to keep the records. If they scan your passport and PR card when you arrive, they should have it though. You should still keep your tickets and boarding cards for all of your trips. Make a list with each of your trips and when you apply for a PR renewal as well as when you apply for citizenship, include a cover letter explaining what you are doing and why.

Boy oh boy...you are really pushing it! Its great that you are way ahead of the curve and are planning this. Here are couple of things that you may get yourself into. Once you complete your 1095 days and apply you may get RQ for which seems like you may be prepared. The other important thing they may question your social ties with Canada. So not sure if you are planning to buy a house here or your wife is going to work here. If one of you works here and kids go to school then you have enough ties as you can prove that you been living here and you been travelling for work each month (someone has to pay bills they cant object you from working). If I was you I would consult a good lawyer prior to investing so much time and money. I am not sure if they can keep you away from citizenship but a lot is at judge's discretion! What you going to do if they figure out something in your application and ask you to apply again? Your money is more than its worth to consult a good lawyer before you move ahead! Good Luck!

Thank you very much for your replies. Yes I do plan to buy a house, but wife is a homeworker and will be doing volunteering but unlikely a job. . Kids will be in schools and universities.I understand you are suggesting is I run it all by a lawyer before embarking on it. Will the lawyer consultation be just in the start or I will need it ongoing.

I don't think you will need a lawyer on call but you can run your plan by a lawyer and ask if they can give you any tips about added evidence to collect etc. When it is time to apply for citizenship, you can consult the lawyer again.

Leon's point makes sense....just run it through a lawyer and go ahead and apply. Later on in case the file takes too long 2+ years and you and family want to leave the country you can hire the same lawyer to look after everything while you are away. You will have to be back for test and Oath though. You are welcome and good luck!
